I hope all is well with you also Knobby. I am loving our November weather but feel bad for the snow removal people and the ski resorts. I got to put more sand in the duck pen on Saturday and that made both me a my ducks happy. I hope all of your animals are doing well too.

It's a gorgeous 50° and sunny day today! Hope all is well with my fellow Buckeyes.

Just moved to Wyoming a week ago. It sure is chilly here! I've been a little jealous of my folks back home having such nice weather.

Finally getting the chance to properly reply. Yeah, the weather has been great and it's November. Took the opportunity to finally wrap all the chicken and duck coops, so I hope it'll suffice for this coming winter. I finally finished my latest coop/run and introduced a second rooster to the new flock. Surprisingly, the roosters are currently getting along, but will continue to monitor them for a bit.

Are you placing sand it the ducks' coop or run, or both? I've been using horse pellets and leaves.

The whole pen is sand other than wood shavings in their different houses. I always heard leaves could mold and I have used crushed corn cobs before that I bought for part of the muddy run but it along with the sand disappears. Do the ducks eat the horse pellets and do you put them where the weather hits them. The rain that we got makes mud eventually come back and then I put more sand down but it is a real job.

Good luck. I see so many beautiful bucks on my bus route and have had two does run out in from of my bus lately. I had heard that a lot of Ohio's Deer got an illness due to the drought so I hope that the season is profitable. They claim that a lot of them died off after this happened. Maybe in your part of the state they all survived.

I had 4 large size bucks come within 30 feet from me, but I didn't have the heart to pull the trigger...

I haven't experienced any molding of the leaves, thus far, but of course, I rake them out once they get covered in poop. Makes for great compost. As for the pellets, the ducks will play around with it, but once they realize it's not edible, they leave it alone.
