I hatch year round but only sell straight run chicks.
I am in Springfield on a weekly basis and Dayton daily.

PM if interested.

BTW, I meant to post this introduction in this thread and didn't realize my blooper till just now!

Hello all! This is GrinningRedHead, from Greater Cincinnati-NKY/Ohio. Very excited to be joining this website community and progressing into being a chicken owner before the end of the fall.

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens? I am extremely new to chickens, having only been around them twice, held one, fed some and enjoyed waking up to a hungry rooster once. My mother however spoke of them constantly she grew up with chickens

(2) How many chickens do you have right now? zero

(3) What breeds do you have? none

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com? Google searching breeds about 2 years ago now

(5) What are some of your other hobbies? Baking, cooking, container garden, recycling, walking, protesting, herbal medicines, Libertarian Party

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share. For years I have been wishing, dreaming, hoping and mildly planning for back yard chickens, bee farming, raising goats and a few other odds and ends. Then I met my amazing husband last Spring and after struggling with a one bedroom apartment for a year and becoming close with a certain friend we are finally moving into a cool opportunity. An Eco-village! A huge 100+ year old home, solid as a rock, deep and healthy .33 acre lot with tones of potential. I am 35 and my hubby is 42, we have a 5-6 month old male kitten - "Paw-Paws", and one gold fish. Currently in between working a job, but helping my husband research and prepare to start gray water reclamation, aquaponics, growing micro greens and so much more.

These are the chickens I would like to raise, and from what it sounds like in Cincinnati we may only be able to raise/keep 10 at a time.

THANK YOU

11. There is a diagram on that page which shows how to cut them also. Its a rough idea of how to build it.

Oh I see it now!
I was totally over looking what the reference to cuts were noted under each piece of wood in that diagram!
I at first, lazily, believed she was just numbering the cuts in order!

Sheesh!

Thank you for giving me a little encouraging dialogue, sometimes it helps!

You're welcome. I see that you have a lot of large fowl in your list of possible breeds. You wont be able to put 10 large fowl in that coop. Maybe 3 or 4 would be my maximum for that one. If you go with silkies, you could probably have 5 or at most 6 in that coop. Just an opinion. What is your reason for chickens? Eggs? Or just to have a few chickens for fun? Silkies will give you eggs but you need 2 or 3 of their eggs to equal one large egg. And silkies lay every other day at most and stop laying often to sit and try to hatch eggs.
