OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

So, we got some older (3 weeks) BCM chicks today along with 3 Blur Marans chicks. I don't think I posted we got 6 Ameraucana chicks yesterday. Anyway, the older chicks look dirty even tho I find no sign of mites so here's my question at what age is it okay to bathe a chick and what do you find is the best way to do that?

Thanks in advance for the help with the newbie question!

Vinton is right next door :) I am trying to figure out how to post pics from my phone....something keeps happening once I select the picture from my gallery. I don' t think that we have any mixed.....just 6 red pullets and 7 Barred Rocks (sorry about my confusing phrasing). I will post some pics when I figure it out. We are pretty excited about our girls.....well, we are hoping that he have all girls ;-)

My husband and I went to rural king last night and brought home 8 assorted chicks! Forgot I ever said we were sticking to a small flock lol
Lord knows that Chicken Math is an evil evil thing! I promised my husband I'd stick to 3. We now have 11, picking up 3 chicks tomorrow from Meyer and again on April 1st, then 2 Started Easter Eggers end of April. Uhm, yeah, small flock indeed.

I have nice Cuckoo Marans, 2 Jersey Giants (1 black-1blue) with a copper blue marans rooster (still in question about if that is what it really is or not) , and Light Brahmas.

Nice to meet all of you Buckeyes!

Ya we said we would only have like 3-4 hens. Well we started with 4 hens and a rooster... And then 2 weeks later we brought home eight chicks. And we said we wouldn't get more than 6!!! Chicken math sucks lol!

Too funny chicken math. I too was a victim! Started with 25 from mt healthy (they threw in 1 extra) for 26. Then found meyers & got 14 more. One didn't survive the journey. So that made 39. I was getting 16-17 eggs per day. Live in the country everyone has chickens. Sold the hens (found there IS a market for young layers). Now down to 10 layers & 2 broodies! My coop & run look empty.

I have only bathed pullets, but do it in a utility sink filled with warm water and a little dawn. Just enough to cover their back. Not sure about bathing chicks. Can you but a dust bath area in for them? Are they different looking because they are starting to feather out?
