OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

I'm always iffy about saying exactly where I live, but how about where I work? 5 days a week you'll find me in Gambier, OH, working at Kenyon College. My co-workers there alternate between being fascinated by my chicken raising and being certain I've gone off the deep end.

Have their long time customer add a bit on their order for you.

From Hartville Ohio, here. Between Akron and Canton. Been getting my feed from Yoder Feed in Hartville. Excellent family. Also, getting some birds from there in end of October. Currently, I have 4 Golden Comets and a New Hampshire Red Rooster. He just joined us, so he is "getting to know" the girls. Got him from Sunbury, don't know if the seller is a BYC'er.

Just an update- I am gettting feed from Ed again. It depends on how much supply he has on hand, and also how much time he has to grind. It is a side, side business for him. I am thankful to be able to get it again though, it is superior to any feed I have tried IMO. For the year or so that I was not able to buy from him I bought from a farmer named Dan Masterson in Holmes County. A farmer friend would buy a ton at a time and he would deliver it to her and she would sell it to me. It was not certified organic like Ed's is, but it was "transitional"- the quality was good but not great like Ed's. Ed's layer is $33 for 100 lbs, worth every penny!

I am paying $15 for Kent's Extra Egg 50#. Does anyone know if this is good or not.

Well, what I did was I found a 5 or 6 inch nail. I tied a piece of rope to the head of the nail and I put a zip tie on it to help it form falling apart. Then I tied the other end up in the coop during the winter. Now I have it hanging out in their run since they are outside all day mostly.

Good luck!
Cody!!

My dh and I are helping to build a Habitat for Humanity house in Orwell this year. The build should start within the next couple weeks, as they just finished clearing brush.
