OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

Setting my last batch of eggs for Delaware tomorrow :) I'll have rhodebar chicks (of course), and swedish flower hens, basques, and maybe a few other breeds, depending on how the hatch goes. I'm debating on a few older birds as well -- we'll see! When I've got an accurate head count of what's going, I'll post it :)

I hated missing the swap last weekend but am really looking forward to this one! I am for sure bringing Icelandic chicks and probably splash, black and gray Silkie pullets that were a late June hatch.

Or I might keep those Silkies and check out your roos blessedchick! Hubs would be so thrilled. Not!

Possibly bringing my Silver Penciled Plymouth Rocks. Have Basque coming and Mottled Javas preordered for Spring so need to make a little room.

What quality black silkie pullets?

I am wanting some more icelandics. I have one lonely one who we thought was a roo but I am thinking pullet now.

If anyone else is bringing silkies I am looking for a couple breeder or SQ black silkie pullets.

Anybody had any experience with Mt. Healthy hatchery down near Cincinatti ? Would be way closer for you southerners.

I've ordered from them before. I picked them up. They are nice birds. I never had a problem with them. I don't know why, but I prefer Murray McMurray. Can't give any specific reasons. Maybe because they offer a lot more breeds than Mt H. I understand that tsc orders chicks from them in the spring.

Good evening! I'm located in Cincinnati, so southwest Ohio. No chickens yet, but I'm looking for any great places to purchase bantams this upcoming spring! I would like to raise them from chicks, but I can't have any roosters, according to the city rules. Are there any great hatcheries or breeders nearby that can sex a days-old bantam chick?

I'm nervous ordering from MyPetChicken, who does sex their bantam chicks, so I'm hoping there is a hidden, secret hatchery within the state that has what I need!

Bantam breeds I'm interested in: silkies, cochins, easter eggers, buff brahmas, and barred plymouth rock bantams.

and to the Ohio thread! I've ordered from Mt Healthy in Cincinnati before. I ordered the porcelain d'uccles (bantams) before from them. I'm not sure what other kind of bantams they carry. I usually order from Murray McMurray, although they are not local. I've never had a problem and all the chicks arrive safe and healthy. They seem to have a lot more breeds than Mt. H. but the birds I've purchased from Mt. H. were healthy also. Murray Mc sex their chicks as does Mt healthy.
You are starting on an adventure in chickens, my friend!! Be prepared!!

You guys are killing me. Showgirls, icelandics, rhodebars... Why must it be so far away?! Guess I'll just have to hope I can find these things at swap days the next week..

Yeah you poor baby, you've got two very good shows, and three insanely big swaps right in your backyard, yearly.
