OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

When is the best time to go, so you can get them?  Do they sell fast? I've never had a pet chicken, but I can see one of these being my pet!!!

When I got her, it was early Sunday morning and they still had quite a few, so I would guess they don't go too fast, but I'd get there Friday morning (prepare for traffic!!) if possible, just in case. Or I know quite a few folks go in Friday evening when the vendors are setting up to get the best quality stuff, but the prices are supposedly higher, understandably. I'm usually there for hours Saturday and Sunday; if you couldn't make it down until Sunday, I'd happily report back if I saw any there, but if you can handle suffocating crowds, I recommend going anyways! All kinds of fun things to see. :D

I believe there is a form of Ivermectin labled for use on dairy cattle with no withdrawl for milk consumption, so if you believe the government, must be pretty safe.
that would be eprinex which is the chemical eprinomectin. I've never personally seen anyone use it on chickens but you might search, it possibly could be used.

I've used ivermectin with great success once a year for the past couple years. I dewormed every chicken and duck (except three call ducks, didn't have time yet) 3 weeks ago today. Kills internal and external. Plus i sweat egg production had picked up after i dewormed this time. Just throw away eggs for 3-4 weeks as it will be fine to use.

I'm not big on chemical or antibiotics unless it is absolutely necessary. I would if I had to. I'm more of a preventative type. And no, just because the government says it is safe, I don't!

I will think on it. I've never used anything like that before and my flock has been healthy. But thanks for the imput!

Heck, the gvernment said cigarettes were safe for decades

. I think of USDA guidelines as a baseline -- if they say it's not safe, I'll believe 'em, and if they say it is... I'll use my own judgment

If you ever have a couple you would like to sell, or know where I can get some. please let me know! Can you get them at Lucasville poultry show or trade days?

Will you be coming to the Delaware swap? I'm hatching out a group of showgirls to take to that swap...they are crazy, stinkin' cute!!!!!

I put .5 a CC(ML) on large fowl and .25 CC(ML) on on bantams. I use ivermectin pour on for cattle. It looks like this.
400

The larger ducks I use 1CC(ML)
