Thanks guys! I tried showing pics to DH and he was like "Meh..whatever. Where's the tv remote?". Kiddo is like "Aw look a chicken. ...Can I play with the water hose now?". Mom is "Real chickens? " (even though her kitchen is decorated in them..) Dad is "They make great stew." And sis is a city girl who balks even at my baby chicks.
..Nice to have you lovely chicken folk. LOL.

Hehe! I know how you feel.my DH complains because they poop on the driveway. Urg! My kids like them, my dad grew up on a dairy farm so he is into it, but most other people look at me like I am crazy. Hehe tomorrow I'm putting my sampler pack in the incubator and 4 eggs from my silkies. Oh ill be in trouble. But it's oh well. I have a high stress job, a stressed with school, stressed with having a mentally ill child. They bring me peace. That is all that matters to me.

Has anyone ever been to the Mt. Hope swap in Millersburg before? It's on the 18th and 19th of October. I didn't know if it would be a good swap to go to or not. It's close is why I ask

the quality of chickens there is always really nice ...... i got my first Delware there!

We found the Easter Egger hiding 3 eggs from us, she just starting laying within the week wondering if this is just were she feels safe laying or if she could go broody on us?

My opps egg I found in the tire a few days ago has to be my silkie! I had three hens in three different boxes today and this is what I found in hers.


I am so excited for these guys to finally be laying. Waiting on two more barred rocks and 4 more easter eggers to come to age and 1 more Silkie. Why do I have a feeling I am going to be hatching through the winter?

Anyone need some barn kittens? All black, be great for Halloween! LOL

If anyone is willing to give them a home we can bring them to the Delaware swap. They are 14 weeks or so and very tame (helps to have a 4-year-old daughter for that purpose) and Mom is teaching them to hunt well. Always been outside.

Went to check on my chicks outside and low and behold a little beak poking out of an egg. Gotta love the fact my kids kept putting eggs under the broody.

What does one do with quail? Just curious. No way Hubs will let me bring anything else home besides the pre-negotiated birds from the upcoming Delaware Swap! LOL That's what it's come to... negotiations! LOL

Hee! Sadly, the last four "barn" kittens that were left here were way too small and cute (and sick and it was winter...) so now they're all house cats. Mine. And just to firm my resolve, I just went and cleaned the litter box...

But I'd say bring them to the swap all the same! Cute kittens are hard to resist, and it's a good chance to find them a home.
