OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

I'll be going to Lucasville this Saturday. Really hoping to find some showgirls (among other things, harharhar), as the only ones I found in Chillicothe were way overpriced.

You all are really making me want a LGD.. To keep the neighbor's stupid dog away mostly..though we have a lot of hawks, too. We have 6 dogs already, though, and save for the teacup chihuahua indoors, they'd all love to make chicken dinner of my featherbabies. I'm actually sick of dogs now because of them, but DH won't let me find them new homes..although I'm the one that has to care for them..

Sounds like maybe you just got the wrong dogs.

If I had my druthers, I would have three, a LGD(maybe two), an English Shepherd, and a Rat Terrier (if I could find another like the ol Lizzie dog we had). And things would be pretty well covered. Unless my running gear somehow reverted back to my younger days, then I would probably need some Beagles, and bird dogs too.

I went to the feed store today, and they had quite a few meat birds about 2 weeks old. Lady said a lot of people wanted them but no one bought them when she got them, and asking $3 each... is that a good price? I don't go to that feed store because a few times that I have there bags were miss labeled and i hate not knowing what I am getting and i don't think to open the bag before i get it.

AWWWW!! SO cute!! I'm drooling over everyone else's chicks because I'm trying really hard not to get any. I'm hoping to hatch some of my copper marans, and buckeyes in a few weeks. I have to get them into a breeding pen, hopefully next week. I have to move my silkie roos out of the hoop house to make a breeding pen out of it. But these pics make me impatient!!

And by the way,

Edit~~~I'm not breeding the marans and buckeyes together.

They will have separate pens! Just to clarify~~~

Anyone in the Ashville/Circleville area that would sell me some hatching eggs? I have mail order eggs in the incubator right now and it is appearing like we might only end up with 3 from this batch. Would like to avoid the postal service if possible. Our goal is to have a mixed flock of egg layers since we can't settle on a single breed. I have a Brinsea Mini Eco so only need 9 eggs and would prefer a mixed selection of eggs. Thanks!

Chickawawa, have thou noticed other chicks going for their foot feathers? my EE chicks did for two days. was rather funny to watch the standoffs between them.Yes Big Medicine thank you for Brahma info, theose chicks are big and calm as can be.
They are brooding with some extremely mild and sweet tempered Silver Laced Wyandottes and other than an occasional peck on the head there hasn't been any picking on each others feathers, leg or otherwise. Thankfully!
