OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

Hey guys - posted in the classifieds but haven't gotten any responses, which is a bit weird to me.....

I am looking for a LARGE fowl rooster....a BIG boy....needs to have a good personality because I have kids and he'll be free range.... Jersey Giant, Orpington, (no English or bantam), LF Cochin.... Age doesn't matter other than I don't want a baby....

Send me a message if you have anything. I am up near Cleveland but I'll travel to pickup. Please don't reply here, I can't read these posts as often as they pop up!

I have added cat food as well no luck either. these are most of my one year old layers doing the plucking. we switched back to tsc layer feed from elevator mix since it started when we switched in jan.

Hi everyone! Does anyone want some mixed breed chicks? I really want to incubate some of the eggs from my hens that are fertilized by my Silver Campine rooster. However, I can't keep any new chickens right now. I have the rooster in with 2 Golden Comet hens, 1 Speckled Sussex hen, 1 Black Australorp hen, 1 Blue Andalusian hen, 1 Splash Blue Laced Red Wyandotte hen, 1 Barred Plymouth Rock hen, and 1 Easter Egger hen. It will be a mystery and really excited to see how these chicks will look!!! I am planning on setting 10 eggs that will hatch and be ready to pick up in Hillsboro Ohio toward the end of June. They will be free unless I have to feed them for a few weeks before the person interested can pick them up. If anyone is interested please let me know! I would really like to try to hatch these eggs but I am not going to set them unless someone would like the chicks. Here are a few pictures of the rooster and hens!

Beak clipping is typically done when they are chicks & the beak is still somewhat soft. The just use a small clipper (something like dog toenail clippers) & take the tip of the upper beak off. It's usually done in large production flocks where over crowding is a problem & clipping is the only way to keep them from canibalizing each other. It makes it very haed for the bird to eat if done wrong & still allows picking if not enough is taken off. (And I too think it is cruel.) My 3 production hens that were pickers were beak clipped (not done properly) before I got them...& it obviously didn't stop them from picking.
