OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

Hello all! I'm new to chickens, so new in fact I don't even have them yet! :) We are planning to get some next spring. Oh, and we're in Sandusky County.

:welcome and the OH thread! Also way down south here, but I was just up your way Friday. I agree, BYC is a wonderful go-to for newbie and experienced chicken-folk alike (not to mention addictive). :D Good luck with the birds! You'll soon find out how amazingly addictive they are. ;) :love I started with them only a couple years ago and I've now signed my life away to them.

Hey all! From bowling green here! Just curious what people are charging for eggs now? I was charging 1.50$\ dz last year thinking of bumping it up to 2$. Some people say too much and others say right amount? Just trying to get some more opinions.

I charge $2 a dozen here in Delaware,OH....thought about raising the price to $2.50-3.00 but haven't done it yet. I only sell 4-5 dozen a week, just try to offset feed costs and make sure I always have some on hand for personal use, not doing this as a business.
We sell only to friends, family, co-workers, and can't fulfill the demand as it is, that's why I'm raising another batch of chicks this spring, to increase the egg production.
NOT because I have always wanted real Ameraucanas...or Lavender Orps...or to see if my rooster could pass on his genetic gifts to future generations (he can:)...strictly increasing to meet demand. Yea, that's it.

I will be selling to mostly coworkers and close family also. Had to replace my flock this year, so that was a bigger cost as well! I have 25 slw's so should get some decent egg production I hope! But I am with you not looking to get rich just offset some cost and support my hobby! ( or addiction if you talk to the wife!)

I'm feeling rather annoyed... I (against my better judgement) bought some chicks at TSC. These are supposed to be production Red pullets.

Please tell me I'm not seeing Roo feathers! And what breed would you say these are?

I wish we had extra to sell. My girls are almost 2 and slowing down... And the new ones are still a few weeks out. And that's not the mention the conundrum above. :-/

I charge $3/doz and $5 for two dozen, i am constantly sold out at work.

I only have 11 hens laying at the moment, but I should be up to almost 30 laying hens by the end of the summer.
