I am not sure if the ducks are male or not yet. they would both attack one bird together. my poor cochin was the favorite target.

I'd bet they were both drakes. My 2.5 week old chocolate drake was hissing at me today and warning me to stay away from the girls. The boys can get tudes early on.

And my blue girl is my favorite. **** ducks almost went in the roaster, until our friend spoke up for giving them a new home.Talked over plans with my Hubby. new run and coop for cochins then the current mixed flock stay until they no longer lay. He wants to keep EES and I am not sure, so flighty.But I still want a string of Jersey Giant.

I think they are male ducks but he argues since they have no bright colors. Um khakis don't have bright colors for the 10th time dear. Black head and neck for males. he thinking mallard and wood duck.

Yeah, they even color in the female coloration for the first feathering if I remember correctly and then molt into male colors whethey're a little older.

to me it looks like their heads are turning black down the neck too. only a slight difference n color to my eye. maybe in few years I can have a flock of them. I tried to give them a good home but man they were rough pair of birds.

Congrats! I have had several bator problems and it is amazing how resilient chicks can be. I have had hatches every week for about the last 2 months! Looks like a colorful bunch!

I just acquired an extra cabinet incubator that I do not have room for. It is a scientific type & I have not personally used it. I will be testing it later today to make sure everything works. PM me if interested in it. Located in Cambridge, Oh.
