Ok Ohioans! Help a girl out!

Since we have awful winters here in Ohio? I am looking for advice on what I should plan on doing for my chickens during the cold winter months. I know it's a ways off, but I want to be prepared so they are ok in the cold coop!

Thank you all in advance!

Last year we didn't have a coop, we had 4 Golden Comets and a Rooster. They mostly stayed in a play house of the girls to keep out of the wind. Our set up is on a low budget.... I want to find a old use shed if possible or even see if I can steal my dads and make shelves this year so we can at least close them in on something.

We have an old coop that was here when we bought our property. It can be all closed up, but I know it still gets cold! We are moving our coop to a big fenced area, but no electric close by... Wonder if I should get huge extension cords for heat lamps or do they keep each other warm? Just looking for what to do and expect :)

Many of the chickens got out today, so I just opened the door and let them run around for a little bit today. This is my girl who hasn't been feeling the best for the past week. Today she ate and hung out with the others but she is still walking slow. I was just glad to see her eat on her own and enjoy some time with her friends. I had fun taking a lot of pictures of all them today.

I do not provide heat for my adult birds, ducks or chickens, and they do just fine. Keep them someplace dry and provide a wind break and they can survive the winters. Watch for frost bite on their feet and combs is your main concern. Typically they get that from standing in wet conditions our getting their comb in the water.
