OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

UGH. I lost two of my favorite chickens in the last three days and wondered what the heck was going on. These are chickens I tote around constantly and have never noticed anything on them. The little one that died earlier, in my arms, after it passed I noticed a little something crawling on it so I looked closer and it was covered in tiny white bugs! Lice!? How the heck did they get those? Guess the DE doesn't work on those after all.. My poor babies. Looks like a hefty trip to TSC tomorrow to pick up any kind of sevin, permethrin, ivermectin and any other products I can find to kill the nasties. Going out to spray everyone and everything with some Adams flea spray I just happen to have lying around now..
I'll vouch for the ivermectin pour on methods. Easy and kills internal and external. Just can't eat the eggs for 3 weeks after.

Thanks minihorse! I'll be sure to pick some up. I put the flea spray on them but couldn't help feeling I was doing them more harm than good. Wish I'd caught this sooner! "My buddy" (little Cochin) in my pics a few days ago was the one I lost today. :hit Seemingly fine this morning. Why is it always the favorites...

sorry :(

I understand how you feel shaybaby. Our Easter Egger rooster has something wrong with him but I cannot figure out what it is. I've checked him for bugs, I also checked him for respiratory problems and found nothing. he wants to sleep all the time has lost a bunch of weight and seems disoriented almost like he had a stroke. I'm on wondering if he didn't suffer from heatstroke earlier on this year and it's starting to really get to him now.

WELCOME ABOARD THE CHICKEN ADDICTION TRAIN!!! LOL!
Marengo area here - so howdy neighbor!

Sooooooo......everyone show your chickens on Sat then haul 'em all up to Delaware to sell 'em on Sunday! I wish I had realized that Saturday was the show in Lucasville...I would have taken a few birds. Too late to post enter? (sorry...I'm only familiar with horseshows...)

I've been talking to the peeps in the area and trying to get an idea of what they are hoping to find at the Delaware swap. So far:

Marans
Olive Eggers
Brahmas
Silkies (I'll have some of those!)
Showgirls (I have one little chick to bring)
Easter Eggers
Seramas
kittens and puppies

Load up the minivans! I'm just excited to meet some BYC peeps!
Hello blessedchick! You only have one showgirl? I would love to have it, but will it be ok by itself? Do you have silkie chicks? How much is the little showgirl and silkies?

Fair went well. Came home with first in stallion/gelding halter, 2nd in halter mare, and 2nd in model pony under 52". That's all the classes we entered! Plus Buck is 100% healthy again. The vet can't believe it as it's a miraculous recovery for the problem he was having!
Congratulations!!! On everything!

I sure did want to come this year, but DH was invited to the reds game on friday and that was the only night we could come. Glad Buck is better!
