OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

Sounds like a great, resourceful idea. I'd love to be involved if I could think of some way to contribute. I'm still not comfortable with the idea of raising meat birds and I'd probably starve before I could bring myself to butcher one lol. And I have just about the farthest from green thumb known to man. I've never kept anything, from veggies to trees to flowers alive more than a few days. DH knows not to buy me flowers

. (I just bought some mint plant shoots to plant because I read they're really hardy and fairly self-sufficient..it lived two days and croaked.) I could possibly start a layer flock, though. I certainly have no experience in that kind of thing, but would be a great idea if it came together!

Its not that they are going to quit accepting them....the entire state food stamp system was down. As far as WIC....that is one of the government programs that has been put on hold during the shutdown. I was in Walmart today and saw someone use their food stamp card.
im just going by what i was told, i dont even have a facebook account. but regardless with the changes the government wants to make, it will still get bad. what am i saying, it already is bad. in the event the government shuts down on the 17th, the food stamp cards wont be far behind.

i just want to make sure we can take care of ourselves. i know i will be fine in my own, im more worried about those of you who havent been self sufficient. its a hard change, and most people dont realize how many things we throw away that we should keep. i know i throw away probably 150 dozen of eggs a year, that could really help someone im sure.

wb mrdazed!

cluckitall -they are afraid of them because they are fertile LOL.  but for a co-op i could sort out some hens for infertile eggs.
Haha, I'd use the don't ask, don't tell policy. If they don't ask if I have roosters running with the hens, then they don't need to know. There's nothing that's gonna hurt them anyways.

I'm just not ready mentally for winter!

I like long warm days! I wish we could bottle up days like today! aaahhh! But we too, are starting to prepare for the cooler weather for our flock.
