OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

I'm going to be visiting your lovely state (hopefully soon to be my state too!!.) next weekend :) If we do move, I'd love to be in on a co-op. I am fairly good at gardening and even willing to help on others land and/or other tasks and trades I could help with.

Hello, that is correct. The food stamp program was running a normal "test" and in so doing crashed the system. It is working again. WIC will return when the government is open again. I was thinking about trading eggs for vet service today! Somehow my Akita has a urinary tract infection? This only happens to me. He is my chicken protector, and mine, and is a necessary part of the family.. Well I "chickened" out and paid for the antibiotics for him. Has anyone ever tried it though with success? My best to everyone and a co-op
sounds very interesting.

the co op idea is a really good idea and we would be into helping out.we will have a good size garden next summer where we will be planting tomatos, beans, fruits, and maybe a few other things,i also plan on ramping up my egg production from my chickens and ducks.

ya we hate snow.it gets so cold out here during the winter months.our female potbelly just had six baby piglets now we really have to winterize to keep them nice and warm.

Awww! I saw someone walking this tiny little potbellied pig here in town the other day. It was so stinking cute!!!! Trotting along on a leash, just like a puppy!

ok, for fun lets just test this idea.

i would be willing to trade 40 lbs of butchered whole pasture chicken for 50 lbs of red juice type tomatoes.

i would trade 100 pullet sex link chicks that are 1-2 weeks old for 10 gallons of pasturized goat milk. (not sure of price of goat milk)

i would trade 4-5 1 year old laying hens for a crate of green beans.

1 young hen for 2 dozen ears of sweet corn.

or would it be better to just have a monthly "goods" swap?

Well, my motto is, "It doesn't hurt to ask". The worst that could happen is they say no. I know bartering is a big thing in the northeast. I wish it were more here. I mean for services, not just among friends. My DH is in construction and there have been a couple of times he exchanged services with someone else. I saw a documentary about a town in the north east, don't remember where, that they bartered for services. Even the Dr. Very interesting.

I think the monthly goods swap would work. That way we could all meet, bring our "goods" that we would swap, and everyone could get everything they were needing. Are there any regulations on co-ops, or is just a collective agreement?

a monthly swap would be a great thing to have.i live on 100 acres and have a very long driveway with space on both sides i would be willing to hold a swap on my land,to barter goods and livestock.me and the wife was already planning on setting up a chicken swap here next summer.
