No it won't close and now I have 2 that size. I feel bad for speckle laying those 2. I opened the nesting box when she was in it and she left the coop but came right back in like she couldn't wait. Poor girl.

No, she was already laying when I got her. She was sick for a while right after I got her. She just started laying again about 2 weeks ago.

thats kind of common, after a period of non laying - eggs will be weird in size. if it keeps up you may need to lower the protein in the feed just a touch. keep an eye on her for egg binding.

You are right, shaybaby, you are not allowed to sell raw milk.  If anyone is wanting goats milk, going in shares on the goats is the legal way to go.  My friend will give me some milk when I make goats milk soap.  But she has to be careful.

im going to go out on a limb here, my brother has at least 4 oberhasil (spelling) does and 2 bucks he is wanting to sell. i know the milk from the mothers tasted excellent. do we want to try a share on them?

I have a pasturizer.  Years and years ago we had a milk cow for one summer and the farmer we bought her from gave it to us.  It holds a gallon of milk I think. It just heats it to the right temp, 180 degrees I think, and kills any bacteria.  I may be wrong on the temp.  I don't know if it still works or not.  We haven't used it since then.  I kept it because it is old.  I have a friend who raises milk goats.  You are right, shaybaby, you are not allowed to sell raw milk.  If anyone is wanting goats milk, going in shares on the goats is the legal way to go.  My friend will give me some milk when I make goats milk soap.  But she has to be careful. 
OH Yeah, I forgot to tell you all, on Friday I went out to check eggs and there were 7! Sat. we got 5, 2, 3, and 5 today!!!! e ! It's been 5-6 weeks since we had more than 4 eggs in a week.!! loveourbirds, I think I got the first egg today from the copper maran i got from you. There were 2 of them. One from the one I had and the other from yours!!!!

What breed of goats does she have? I have been thinking of getting nigerian dwarf goats. They are smaller and produce very good milk. I would not pasteurize my milk because then your getting rid of all the natural vitamins and everything in it that you need. I know you can "legally" sell it but at least it will be better for you than pasteurized milk. Just my thoughts I know everyone has their own!

I understand that you cannot SELL raw milk but have not found anything saying you cannot just give it away. Is that also illegal? In all cases of prosecution the person accepted money, in the examples I could find
