) in the coop. I go to Meyers at 9am today to get more of their breeding stock...
Nope. No addiction here. Good thing I got another 25 feet of coop yet to expand.
I'm soooo going to need it. Interestingly, I ran out of eggs to sell today. My 9 year old wasn't going to be stopped by that though. She loaded up a new carton of the cream Legbar and French Marans eggs I set aside for hatching.
She wasn't pleased to discover the value of what she did though. But I had to give her credit on resourcefulness.
On the positive side, I had already already loaded half the incubator, so I didn't loose too much.

I'm in licking county would like to get about a dozen fertile eggs to try out an incubator

Im in licking. Around where are you located within Licking? We might have some olive egger eggs we could sell to you. $5.00 for a dozen. We have been flooded with eggs this past week or so and have enough to make probably 3 dozen eggs today. Even have some broody hens that should be hatchin lil bits anyday.
Whats even better is that they will likely be wyandotte/ameraucana and I have kept a pullet from this cross who is a gorgous silver laced. Still young though... and got pecked in the eye. So we are struggling with her.

I am in St louisville. Actually just set some English orprington eggs. Where in licking county are you located?

I started out with seven chicks. That was after I told my mother-in-law, who was already livid at the thought of chickens, that I was only getting three hens. I explained the extras away as "back up plans." She doesn't know I have roosters. Now I'm getting three more girls from Meyer on September 8th. I'm anxious for my silkies in the spring too. When I said, "I hope I don't get too many" my husband said, "It'll be easy to expand the coop."

The run is being built finally! Had they not used all the 1x2 spaced on the top we wouldn't need a 25ft piece to finish the sides. Have 50 ft of 2x4 spaced I had planned to use up top that now will be recycled.

I am in Cincinnati and looking to buy some grown chickens as we just got a coop and don't want to wait till next spring to start. Anyone have any hens to spare?

Surplus cockerels are maturing and starting to drive me and the hens crazy. Does anyone want one of these pretty boys?

And then there is this standard size EE cross that I kept because I thought he was a pretty little pullet, um until I just realized he has hackle feathers (I think I've been in denial for awhile). I believe his dad is my huge Buff Orpington/Cochin cross. There is some blue in his feathers. He was raised by the Silkies and so far is very calm and gentle.

I'm about half way between Cleveland and Columbus.
