OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

@Farmer's Wife...you have a lot going on there in your chicken world!  We have 1 coop, 4 ft wide 12 ft long, and the coop part is raised so they have the full footprint as their run.  Since it's inside the fenced in pond area, we let them out every morning and close them in at night for protection.  We have 6 chickens, 1 rooster, 5 hens, 4 that lay and 1 freeloader.  We only took them in as they needed a home, and will not be getting more.  Love the eggs for our own use, but don't want to get into more than that.  Now if I could only get rid of the evil rooster!  He hates me and constantly tries to get at me.

I've had LOTS of experience with roosters! Love them. But, they can be cantankerous. Something short term that worked for me, I put a mean rooster in a crate for a week or two. This "resets" their attitude. I did have one absolutely beautiful rooster that was super aggressive with the hens. He went to the crockpot. Sometimes farming is hard.

Hello, is anyone from Ohio raising Holderands mini Geese? I have a trio and would like to introduce some new blood to my flock. I cannot seem to find anyone who has them. Maybe trade goslings or eggs.

Curious if anyone has Salmon Faverolle chicks for sale. We are down to 2 adults and they aren't good enough stock that I would want to breed. Also interested in Mottled Javas and Speckled Sussex if anyone has some. The closer to Shelby County the better but I could be up for a road trip for the right chicks.

Thanks all!

ToniTalley sounds very nice. Too many Hawks here to free range unsupervised.
I had a beautiful Blue Copper Marans rooster who flogged me every time I turned my back. He went for a ride in the truck to the Amish!

@farmers wife, we have lost fowl to coyotes at night before we knew we had to lock them in. We have raptors but not that many, and we have a couple places for the girls to hide. Our rooster is good at warning the girls and herding them to safety. He has a special sound he makes whenever he spots the cat. The cat has always tried to catch herself a chicken dinner, but the chickens are twice her size and they just walk away.?i pity the cat if the rooster ever gets ahold of her!
