Well, I have chicks out my ears. Growing some up for the flock I keep and selling others.
And I came up with a name for my coop: The Poop D'evil.

Anybody have pics of you they adapted their coops to allow for breeding groups to housed within it?

Where are you located and what breeds do you have?

I'm in Olmsted Twp. It is in the area where Cuyahoga County and Lorain county meet, by I80.

I have my own flock of heritage Buckeyes(need a heritage rooster though, just getting olive eggers right now from them), breeder Marans(french black copper, cuckoo, 1 golden cuckoo, splash) need a rooster for them too, Cream Legbars(trio), blue ameraucanas, welsummers(trio), easter eggers and a few others.

Hatchery stuff is salmon faverolles, rocks, cochins, sultans, marans, Jersey giants, wyandottes, polish. I also have a few white egg layers.

I'll be getting a couple batches of heritage chicks this fall, so not sure what else I will be adding to my own flock.

This is a picture my neighbor took last week before they flushed and came over and landed on us. They gave me a heads up call, but the eagles flushed before I saw them sitting, circled a few times and went on their way, Did not seem to be too interested in the chickens, probably looking for fishable water.

Wow! We have them move through here too..With 3 large ponds right next to me and one 1/4 mile off its no wonder. We have seen them perched in the tree over my run but no strikes yet. Osprey nested last year behind us and they drove my flock crazy. They flew circles to the pond calling the entire time. Didn't see many hawks last year after the osprey came.

Well I spent most of my day off cleaning both coops while the fluffy butts roamed the yard inside of chicken netting. Hawks were circling some so warning cries then in the run they went then back out for two hours. Then we moved the chicks and keets to the small pen in the large coop.

Hi all--

Just joined up. I'm an hour northeast of Columbus....Currently have the following large fowl: Black Langshans (hope to show at Ohio National this year), and Brabanters (just started with them and have some serious culling to do before they're up to snuff). Also running a bunch of bantam Phoenix (started as gold and silver duckwings and a white rooster, but they're throwing the occasional fawn/dun factor bird and I'm trying to select a strain for that color), australian spotted ducks, and some exotics (peafowl, golden pheasants, etc).

Would love to get feedback from others about managing my flock (keeping, breeding, and so on)!

Yeah, the feed bill for the birds is higher than the one for the humans most weeks....I suspect I'm in good company here on that (grin).

Welcome to the group. I have found that fermenting feed helps cut the feed bill a bit & they sure love it!
