OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

We've never seen coons around my area before. But a week ago now, something got two of my silkies in the middle of the night, the game camera only showed a possum, so I thought that was what got them, but caught two coons on my game camera last night, and caught the smaller in the trap. My mom just wants to move them, but I said no, its getting shot as soon as my dad gets home. Sad thing is, is that I had just bought the silkies a week prior, and had just finished the secure coops for them the next day.
That is terrible! I feel so bad for you. At least you trapped one, and there's a good chance you'll trap the other soon. If you haven't already, you might want to let your mom know that in Ohio, it's illegal to relocate raccoons. They have to either be released or disposed of ON your property. Just a friendly heads-up! :)

Yeah, I already told her that, but she really doesn't want to kill them. I had them up in a dog crate up in the second story of a coop I was making, didn't think anything could get up there. They shoved the dog crate down and ate the mottled and left the paint. We finished the coop the next day of course, so everyone is safe, but they had to do it the night before we finished of course

Sorry for the loss of your chickens. We had a scare with a racoon and I was nuts trying to make sure everyone was safe and secure. It is an unfortunate part of chicken keeping. Keep putting the trap and game camera out. You'll catch the other coon eventually.

:) she's very pretty, and yes it appears you will have your egg color answer soon. Please let us know!

No egg yet but I caught her out about today and managed to pick her up. Not something she enjoys. Her ears are mint green! I wish I could have gotten a picture with one hand while holding her with the other. I've never seen mint green ears.

I'm on your side in that decision :D I trapped one, one time, and had to drag the trap over toward the woods. The poor thing looked so pitiful, I felt bad to shoot it....that is until it growled at me!! Made that bullet come outta my pistol alot easier.
Here is the coop after I finally got the nesting boxes on. I hope to get the roof finished this weekend.
Very nice! I'm jealous!

You gotta get a pic of that! :fl I've never seen that either.

It's hard to see her ears are so little. But with an apple to bribe her she stretched out her neck and I got a shot of that mint green. Love her necklace too.
