We ended up not letting the kids go at all this week but I have to go in tomorrow for what they call a Waiver day and drive my bus for an hour and then do other things. It will be 7 below in the morning, what are they thinking wanting us to take the buses out in those temps???? Oh well, if we break down we'd better be dressed really warm and trust me, I will, heated gloves and all.

We had school today and will have it tomorrow. Still gonna be cold but can't be out until April. I sure don't want the year to go into the summer so I'll go in now and get my time in

We don't actually go by school days but by hours. Our district goes more hours than required by law just in case of events such as this. That way we are not required to make up so many days. We are doing the one trade day tomorrow so that should make us ok for now. If we would miss a lot more sometimes our Govenor grants us extra days so that we are not going into the summertime. They did that for our 1978 Blizzard that we had here.

Yes, all school districts go by hours, that's state law. We are still good, too. The super said we have 6 "days" left that we could use. But he wants to make some time up now because we still have Feb and March to go through

I totally get that for sure. We have used up 6 days so far ourselves and tomorrow would have been 7 if they had not done a trade day and make the kids go on Monday instead of it being a day off for them and a workday for us. I hate going in at 7 below in the morning and driving the bus in those conditions but at least we will be alone and no kids in danger.

Yes since they have not been driven all week they want us to take them out and test them. They get so cold so fast so we get to be the test pilots for the weather and the buses. A lot of our roads are still only one lane so it should be interesting. Did you get the foot of snow we got or more?
