Howdy fellow Buckeyes! Are there any poultry clubs in the Central Ohio area? I would love to gather with fellow chicken lovers to compare notes "in person"...also, any suggestions on where to find a listing of poultry shows in the Tri-state area?

Thanks bunches from CARDINGTON! WOO-HOO!

Hi, Blessed Chick.

Do you live on 42 just north of town? I passed a place the other day that had some chicken pens with a good number of birds. Was going too fast to tell what kind they were. If it's not you, do you know who they are?

Also, the only organized clubs we're in are 4H, but we do chat up the poultry people quite a bit. We went to a poultry clinic in Wooster last month and had a really good time. There are a couple shows coming up around Ohio. Check out the latest issue of Poultry Press.

Hi Marengoite!

No...not me...I'm not sure who that would be. I just might have to stop in next time I'm up that way to talk chicken! I'm on 61 between Fulton and 529 if you know that area at all...

Can I join 4-H as an alumni?

I did the horse projects growing up and would love to start over with chickens...in the meantime I'll check out the Poultry Press. Thank you so much for the tip!!

I know it quite well. We run to Mount Gilead all the time. We're on 21, east of 61. Right now we have some Golden comets from Mt. Healthy that my son is raising for pullets and I'll be picking up some Buckeye chicks this week for Heritage broilers (a new class at our fair - this is the first time they've ever had it) and some Silver spangled Hamburgs for fancy poultry next week from Meyer. Then its out to Eagle Nest next Thursday for our turkeys (I have three kids showing those this year).

Stop by the poultry barn during the fair this year and you should be able to see some of our stuff.

What are you raising this year?

Oh my goodness!!! You are right behind me! How fun! And what an awesome group of chickies to be raising...I've been drooling over Hamburgs for awhile now - maybe next year...

Right now I'm chock full of sweet Silkies and Showgirls (still looking for black silkies and different colored SGs) plus 5 little babies that will someday be my layers (Faith-EE, Hope-EE, Charity-brown leghorn, Grace-Black sex linked, Joy-BR), my 3 awesome swans and I'm knee deep in guinea eggs. WOO-HOO!!! Lovin' it! I'll PM you my number - I would love for you to stop by and meet the Flockers!

Hello neighbors from Ohio..If anyone has a young rooster that you wouldn't mind selling please contact me. I currently have 12 amber link hens which are just 2 months old, and they need a rooster to keep em safe and sound :) I am looking for something close in age to the hens, or at least under 6 months old. I live close to Bellefontaine. I would like a Plymouth Rock, a Rhode Island, or something close in genetics to the hens i have. Thank you for replying.

lonny.
No roosters like that at the moment.
I do have a nice Splash Silkie I hatched from Catdance Silkie by kelar on here, if anyone is interested make an offer. PM me if interested. I also have a buff (unknown sex) from CJ silkies, both are under 6 months.

Do any of you guys sell eggs and what are you charging? We were charging 1.50 per dozen, 1.25 each for two dozen or more. Originally, people were looking at us like they thought that was expensive. Now, people are beginning to ask us for eggs, and they're looking at us like they think that's cheap. Ohio is notoriously cheap, so what d'ya think?

They are selling brown eggs from Croton (Hillendale egg factory) for $1.89/doz. $1.50 is cheap.
