OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

Yeah I sure don't think that I will be bored this summer, besides the chickens I also expanded my garden twice the size from last year, am starting a compost pile, a worm farm, and meal worm farm (for the chickies) and oh yeah I have 3 kids in 3 different baseball / softball leagues and an amazing fiance who puts up with it all... even typing all that it is making me tired. I don't think I will have a hard time shedding some pounds though! That was my initial hope, loosing some weight, and I think it will work. We want to get married in the fall of 2013 (paying for a new roof this year, lol) and I think all of my work this year will certainly pay off! Good luck with you walls and fencing and don't forget to post pics!

That is a great jump! I have 6 buckeyes and 1 (rescued) white rock right now, 5 weeks old, have 20 cornish cross, 3 buff orphingtons, 3 Colombian wyandotte, 3 RIR, 3 barred rock, and 1 surprise coming April 30, and 2EEs, 3 Favorelle, 3 light brahma, 3 more buckeyes and 1 more surprise coming June 4th... I am gonna be up to my eyeballs in chickens! I am so excited though, and sure can't wait till I finish the coops and runs... my arms hurt from all of the post hole digging!!

Edited after using the calculator...
Dang... 52... (lol)

Are you sure you don't want some turkeys to go with that? I picked up a dozen this afternoon at Eagle Nest. 6 BB whites for the kids to raise for the fair and 6 Bourbon reds for eating and showing in Open class. They are to keep the 15 buckeyes, 5 barred rocks and 5 golden comets company.

Thanks Dear, but not this year... maybe next year... I almost have my fiance convinced, and after the early spring this year and the slim chance he will get much Turkey hunting done I might even have a better argument! I know the raised turkeys won't taste the same as the wild ones, but dinner is dinner right?

As far as 4-H goes the turkeys will be a good compliment to the hogs I think my daughter wants to raise next year instead of the dairy steers... why not switch it all up! Geeze... I am afraid of what more I will discover when fair time gets here and I get to hang out in more barns!

I think we are going to take a few of my chicks I got from Jeff to a Poultry Fun Show next weekend (28th) for some experience in showing and handling, I know that they won't be old enough to give a proper showing, but it will be good experience for her, and me... Also, it will give me enough time to quarantine them after the show to avoid any problems with my new babies.

Hi All,
I'm in Vermilion, Ohio, and need a rooster. A really nice rooster. I lost my dear Bert a few weeks ago, and the girls all miss him too. He was a Rhode Island Red, very sweet to the girls. Will travel in state to pick him up. My girls are almost a year old, so I think he should be around the same age. Anyone out there need to part with one? Please let me know. And thanks!

Hey Fellow Buckeyes :D.......let's see I'm from Columbus and have lived in most of the suburbs ( Westerville, Pickerington, West Side, North Side, Clintonville), I've lived in Cincinnati, Portsmouth, Galipolis, Cleveland, and Lakewood. Now I live in Medina county in Lodi. It's north of Columbus but south of Cleveland. Oh and I have relatives ALL OVER Ohio lol. So I'm pretty familiar with just about the entire state lol.

Im hatching some new LF lavender orps and LF BC marans as we speak. I've had turkeys, pea fowl, ducks and various breeds of chickens. I'm also a breeder and exhibitor of harlequin and mantle Great Danes and have been for 17 yrs. Oh yeah ...mother of 5 (4 girls 1 boy ) my oldest 2 are adults now and the other three are teenagers. I'm also a nurse.

Wheeeeew......I'm out of breath now lol lol. But that's me in a nutshell

Welcome to the group Rebekah, that is my name too! It is not often that you see it spelled our way!

With all of your experience I am looking forward to any tips and tricks you may have to offer!

P.S. Your dog is beautiful! I have basset hounds myself, just like a Great Dane, only smaller and more compact!

Rebekah!
BEAUTIFUL dog! I love Great Danes, but I don't like their lifespan! I get attached and would like my dog around a lot longer! We have a Golden Retriever.
