OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

Hi. I'm in Newark, Ohio (Licking County). We're rural so we're much closer to Utica than Newark. We had Silkies years ago...great birds. We had 5 pullets and a roo. We had lots of eggs and lots of babies. I bought 6 chicks from TSC a couple of weeks ago: 2 Silkies (the only ones they had), 2 Golden Laced Sebrights, and 2 OE BBRs. We also have a Goffin's Cockatoo named Butters and a Green Cheek Conure named Punkin (both rescues) along with 2 cats, Pebbles and Bam-Bam.

We're building our coop and run this weekend. I'm going to order more chicks, but haven't totally made up my mind about which other breeds to get and whether to stick with bantams or get full-sized chickens. I want them all, LOL!

Wow LindaKatheryn we are close! I am in Saint Louisville and I go to Utica everyday, usually twice!! Good luck with your coop and run, I have been working on mine for what seems like forever! If you need anything be sure to hit me up, its nice to know that there are people on here close to me!

Whoo-hooo! A chicken loving neighbor <big grin>. I have a friend who live on Flamingo and more friends who live on Pirana. I live on Reynolds Road between the Shipley's dairy farm and Centennial Road. Would love to meet you. So do I call you Crazy for short or what? LOL!

We're going shopping for materials on Saturday and building on Sunday. Gonna finish the coop first and the run as soon as the coop's done. Actually, we're building new coops...mine (large) and my step-daughter's (small). She's only got 5 chicks. I have six but that was just for starters :)

So what chickens do you have? Inquiring minds want to know !

Linda

Hello from Clermont County Ohio! I'm located about a half hour outside Cincinnati. I recently discovered I have an addiction to chickens. I started two years ago with one coop and 5 chicks. I now have 3 coops and 10 chickens. Currently into hatching my own Silkies and selling hatching eggs. It's amazing how many chicken lovers are out there!

Hello all!

Just joined, though I've been browsing and reading the site for the past couple days. My husband got a kick out of me when he discovered I was laying in bed at 3 AM reading about how to raise chickens. Lol. Then he asked in a bit of a worried tone if I was going to start decorating with roosters.... smh. Haha.

Anyway, I'm normally a resident of Baltimore, Ohio. Dinky little town outside of Columbus and Lancaster. However, I'm in Canada until August-ish. Been wanting to raise chickens for a few years now, but I'm too afraid to raise them in northern Canada. Gets to 40 below in the winters here (before the windchill), so I'd be afraid they'd freeze, even with heating. So, since I'll be back stateside soon (yay), been reading up on what I need to do in order to finally be a chicken mama. lol. Though I didn't find anything on if it was legal or not to own chickens in Baltimore or the stipulations. Any other residents here that may know the answer? Would be SO appreciated!

Oh and I'm Bee! Originally from South Carolina and one day I'll move back... lol. I love animals and love trying to live organically, herbally, naturally, and any other "ally" that brings a sense of simplicity and self-sufficiency lol. I have 1 German Shepherd and 7 kitties. Yes, that means a LOT of hair. Needless to say my vacuum, duster and broom are very busy. But, it's worth it. Love to laugh and usually can't stop once I've started. And I'm a huge huge bookworm. Everything from how-to's (like the chickens lol) to vampires to recipe books.

Guess I ramble too. lol. Anyway, if anyone knows anything about Baltimore chicken laws, I'd love if you could school me. =D Hope to meet some nice people here!

Good evening fellow Ohioans! I'm expecting my first hatch of call ducks any day now and just can't hardly wait! 3 ducks are now sitting on eggs....Of course, no idea what I"ll do with them all, but we'll cross that bridge when we get to it.

Last year, one duck sat for about 3 weeks then decided she was bored with it, so I'm very hopeful for the first duck...it's been 28 days today.

YAY!

Welcome to you Ohioans who are only a little bit newer to the boards than me.

Bee, all I know about Baltimore is we ride through it on our bikes sometimes :)

Can't wait for news about your duck chicks, Chickky!

Sydneylou, glad you're also a member of the OWCROCD...Ohioans With Chicken Related Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.

Kimmie0627, I'll probably end up with mutts too because I have no idea what I'm doing, LOL!

Thanks for my diagnosis of OWCROCD. I'll use the BYC site as my support group. Nice to have other "sufferers" to talk to, lol.
