OHio ~ Come on Buckeyes, let me know your out there!

Hello Buckeyes,
I need some help for a fellow BYC'er. She is traveling thru Ohio to and from Oklahoma to pick up here horse that was stolen from her. Here is the problem. She has contacted over 20 overnight stables and not one has returned her call. Can anybody offer a good lead or even a place to stop for a few hours to give her gelding a rest. It is an 18 hour trip in good weather.
They are willing to pay for the stall or paddock. I met her here on BYC and am just trying to help someone who had somthing precious taken from them returned. She is going to pick him up instead of using a horse transport company. I don't blame her, I would too.
Thank-You for letting me post on your thread.

"Question for all you Buckeyes!
I am new to chickens (39 chicks in April)
Any suggestions on how to keep the chickens cool?
They have plenty of water, but they are just panting and panting.
Big run 20 x 20 enclosed with hardware cloth from top to bottom."

You could also freeze some ice blocks in old butter/cool whip/etc containers and add them to their water. I've also set up a sprinkler at times. I've also read about people freezing treats in the water like a few blue berries and setting the ice block out for the chicken to peck at.

Panting is how chickens keep cool. You could put a tarp over a portion of the run. Some use fans. Panting is normal tho.
Thanks JoshU. Put up a tarp on Sunday but they are afraid of the movement. Have a fan in the coop. But they look so hot in the 90's here today and will be again till Thursday.

also if corn is a large % of their diet or treats you may want to find another feed or treat for them. While breaking down in their system corn causes a lot of heat. I switch to mixed scratch grains as a scratch treat when it is hot. They do.t seam to pant and such as much.
JoshU will have to check the label on their food. I don't give corn as a treat, just lettuce, they didn't care for cabbage. The love apples and tomatoes and carrotts.

Thanks kmenchicks I will try that. Have been changing their water at least twice a day. We have a well and the water is really cold!

Also, you can freeze 2 liter or smaller pop bottles filled with water and let them float in the water buckets. Swap them out twice a day. That should help.

Hi there! I'm not sure of the route she would be taking but I am just 25 mins North of Columbus and would be happy to help out! I have a spare room and an extra stall/run in for her horse...no problem at all!

I know a few stables around my area where friends keep their horses. I can give the names to see if they have room available. I don't know where she'd be traveling through.
