Ohio National....Who's all going?

I wonder if the show is why this week had drudged on FOREVER?!?

So, a BYC lunch meeting like last year? I know there will be a BYC table and name tags, but it would be helpful to maybe get us all in one place for those that have planned deals. Yes, I'm sure this has been addressed, but I'm not going through all the posts...I'm just way too lazy for that...

I also don't know if it was planned yet or not. Last year we congregated outside of the doors to the food court area on a brick circle that creates seating. Was there a flag pole? How about noon?

Sounds like a plan...I know the SW Ohio poulty meetup group is planning on having a quick lunch/snack there at 1:00. Last year was nice just sittin' on the wall and having a brown bag lunch. The weather is going to be pretty good this year too from the looks of it....so I say to all BYC members attending -

Meet up for lunch just outside the entry way to the show and indoor dining area. Can't miss it, statue of some sort and a flag pole surrounded by a shallow brick wall. 12:00 Saturday for a brown bag lunch and idle chic-chat. Good time for some photos to post back on the forum for those that could not attend to make them good and jealous!

Don't forget name tags with username and first name...this will be the first meeting for many of us!

If you find yourself on High Street, just north of downtown under the arches, park your car and take a walk. There are fun shops, like a fancy dog accessory store (Posh Pets), antiques (Granville Mercantile), and several galleries. Great places to eat and people watch as well! Mac's has fantastic service in an Irish pub setting, and Betty's has really fun decor. I know it's game day, so you'll have to fight a sea of Scarlet and Grey, but if you learn the O-H! I-O! cheer, you'll make lots of friends. Gooddale Park is just a block or so west of High in Victorian Villiage, and it's a great place to let the doggies play, if you bring one with you. Or, you can just play with the ones that are already there!

OK -
This will probably be my last post before I head for the show tomorrow morning. I have a couple of things to get my photo station set up and then I do "welcome to The OHIO NATIONAL" duty at the back doors. I also politely yell at you if you don't move your vehicle out of the way as soon as you are unloaded.

If any of you have a bird that you want a picture of I will do my best to accomodate you. I am very busy so unless the bird is well trained and calm, and you hang with me to handle the bird, please reconsider. And remember that during the show the more birds that have been judged the busier I am.

You enter the fairgrounds at the middle on the north side. The fairgrounds entry is on E 17th Ave off I71 north of downtown. They like to call the place Ohio Expositions Center so look for those signs. If you want to program your navigational device the destination to use is:

717 E 17th Ave Columbus, Ohio

Here is a map of the fairgrounds:

The show hall is building 19.
Remember that if you are going to enter (or reenter) the fairgrounds three or more times you should get the $14 event parking pass. This is the fairgrounds charging you. The OHIO NATIONAL has an entry fee of $5 per person over 18 and not an exhibitor or checking in with an exhibitor on arrival.

BYC Table-
Will be in the hall way to the east of the showroom. Non exhibitors enter through the brick portico on the east side of the Voinovitch building. Go down the steps and trun left. The table is on the left just after the junior showmanship cages. The banner will be above the table.

Please sign in at the table and get your name badge. I wont be able to be there much so if everyone could try and help out a little it will benefit all. I will have blank sign in sheets and badges there for you to help yourselves.

The sign in sheet asks for your forum name and other OPTIONAL things. Like your real name (if you are showing you might put your exhibitor number there as well), where you are from (cool to know how far folks traveled), e mail address (The OHIO NATIONAL does a show report afterwards and would like to send it to all - your e mail addresses will not be used for anything unpleasant otherwise) and your cell phone number (in case any other BYCers want to contact you at the show - of course these will be discarded after the show.)

I am taking a white board to set behind the table for announcements, whatever. Like lunch meetings, need a ride to the hotel, where is the best MacDonalds, whatever. There will also be paper on the table to tape down messages.

And finally- if you need help with anyting my cell phone number will be on the example sign in sheet at the BYC table. It is 260 251 1926.

This is The OHIO NATIONAL - America's largest annual poultry show and argueably the premire show on the circuit. ime. This is the biggest party we throw in the year and we certainly want you to have a great time.

And if you don't hear it again-

THANKS FOR COMING!
