Ohio National....Who's all going?

I went for Saturday. It was my first show and i just wanted to learn a lot, look around, etc. From what I saw, and please please PLEASE correct me on this if I am wrong. (I hope I am) I watched a judge grab the birds by the wings, pull him out roughly, flip him over to look at him and shove him back in the cage. I watched this go on for 1/2 and isle and was totally disgusted and horrified. He was working with some of the mid/larger birds on the isle next to the geese on the floor for those of you who were there. I thought maybe i was seeing something wrong, but i really dont think so. I would NEVER even think of submitting my birds to this. If I saw him touching my birds like that I think I would have jumped the rope and smacked him a good one in the face. I understand how they can pick up the birds by the wings where they meet the back, but this was not nicely done. and with no care at all for the health of the bird.

On a good note, I absolutely LOVED everything else. I met some nice people, and I met some snobs. The booths were fun to chat with the vendors. they were really hepful. I drooled over so many birds!!!! It was just overwhelming. I ha to look like a total idiot. Eyes wide, mouth gaped open, drool i am sure dripping!!!!!

I stayed a little bit after the show and talked to a lady selling bantam Lemon Blue Cochins and someone had abandoned a bantam frizzle cochin roo in the sales cages. I didnt any room but I know someone took it so im not too worried.

Chickencrazee - I dont think that they should be able to expect your son to know the name of an unaccepted breed in showmanship.

fish- that is how they always handle the birds. Not all of the birds are easy to catch so they have to catch them somehow, they dont injure the birds at all, they flip them around and everything to see if they have any defects and how their shape is.

The judges may seem impersonal and rough, but they do this everyday, have a lot of birds to get through, and know not to harm the birds.

I saw a judge at one show who noticed a cockeral choking on something (shaving?) and he blew air into it's mouth until the owner was located.

Ohio was awesome! Met a couple of BYCers - went out to the sculpture at noon for the meet & greet, but no one was really chattin' it up. Met Neil Grassbaugh - what a great guy! We did all hang for a pic that someone said they were going to post. Got a Jersey Giant Pullet and a BLRW pullet. How did everyone get to meet Mrs. Turbo but me? Tried to get some birds off the floor, but no one was selling. Got a third for my Fav bantam roo. Everyone should go to this once in their life! (Only not next year - we'll all be in Indianapolis!) Here's some pics from inside - from left to right - be jealous:

I'm kinda glad I didn't go, I'm sure I would have been sick (respiratory) by the end of the day

Too much dust and feathers in there for me!

Yeah, if you read the description it says the birds are full-bloodline related to the one that won the show, but the show winner is not on the auction.
