We had an awesome trip to the Nationals. Didn't win anything big, but got the birds we need to get there next year.
The only BYCer we met was Turtleblossom--very nice to meet you!
Anyway, believe it or not but sellers row was way better this year than last year. Last year it was absolutely impossible, and kind of scary. We did our shopping on Friday. I spent 3 hours picking out a trio. The breeder was a saint, to put up with me. R.S. Keith brought some beautiful Dark Cornish, I love my new birds.
The only thing I didn't like was on the show side. There were junior bird cages on top of regular show birds, and ducks mixed in with the bantams--yuck?! It didn't effecct our birds but we were shaking our heads about that for awhile. The last thing was that they only judged one row of the Standard Cornish. They came back and rejudged, but I felt like my birds weren't appreciated at all. There's finally a nice class of Cornish and nobody cares enough to judge it. So that wasn't great.
Overall though we had a great time, and will be back again next year unless preparations for the Crossroads show interferes.
