I’m a couple hours from this location but was wanting to know if anyone is close to this train accident. Saw a news story out of Lima, Ohio where a woman had lost 5 of her chickens overnight from the air pollution. Praying for anyone that might be involved and hopefully the land/community recovers.

My heart seriously goes out to anyone affected by the toxic gas released from this wreck. I'm nowhere near it, but I've been sitting here seriously considering what I'd do if I found myself in this situation. There are no good solutions, and the whole thing is a nightmare. I'm so sorry to anyone dealing with this.

Yeah, my mom told me about it. She said birds are falling out of the sky, people's outdoor animals are dropping dead. It's just awful. :hit
You are right makes me think if it happens near me what would you do? The fish in nearby creeks and rivers are estimating 3,500 loses so far. I’m sure it’s much more.

The city of East Palestine had a town hall meeting last night. The CEO of the railroad company was supposed to be there. Guess who ditched at the last second? And the railroad hired an independant company to test the waters and air around the area, EPA hasn't tested it yet. But our governor has said if he was there, he would be drinking bottled water

I think I'd have to empty out the garage and move my flock in there until the danger passes. I couldn't just let them die out there. Everyone would be PISSED, but I just don't think it's optional. They're my babies. I get sad/upset when it's too hot or too cold cause I know they're out there in it. I couldn't live with myself if I let them die. The garage would be wrecked, and I'd probably have to hire a service to clean/disinfect it, but it would be worth it.

I’m about 150 miles from it, in PA. Over the weekend my husband and I smelled a really strong chlorine smell, and were confused. Our kids mentioned it too. We’re surrounded by farmland and woodland, so that was a new smell! Not saying it’s related to that, but it’s never happened before. It dissipated in about an hour.

I know we had strong winds at same time in central Ohio blowing that way…. It could have been chemicals off of it.
