Apparently I am a grammar police person, since I asked that the post be written in a manner that made it easily readable. I don't get picky about spelling, unless I absolutely cannot decipher the word, and I don't get picky about typos or poor grammar. I do expect that a post communicate.

I wonder how many folks looked at it and said to themselves "too hard to read; my time is better spent elsewhere," when they might have been able to provide a great solution if they had taken the excess time to read it.

While the above example is not exactly the same, it should illustrate the difficulty of reading something that is significantly different than standard.

I am so sorry for your loss.

You certainly have a serious dilemma on your hands. I honestly feel it is the owner of those dogs fault here

, not the dogs, as they are only doing what comes naturally. The owner failed to properly teach them what is acceptable and/or keep them from wandering and killing livestock. It would be inhumane to kill the dogs as they were given no direction, however, you do need to solve the problem if your neighbor won't. If you cannot contain the dogs when they appear in your yard for the police then take oodles of pictures--video is best. Obviously you do not want to let them kill more chickens or harm your dog but just that they are on your property harassing you, your dog and your chickens should be enough.


As for the remark about your original post I believe that person was intending to help you. I also can see how it could be upsetting and thought to be criticizing but it was constructive criticism. With so many posts it helps to make yours as easy to read and understand as possible so you can receive many responses to help you. No one has to respond to any post but many don't have the time to sort through all of them either. Spelling doesn't matter as much as so many folks text now, but breaking up a long post can help readers to not miss any detail of your problem. Whether you decide to follow their advice is up to you.

No matter what we post some people will see it differently then we intended. Although its tedious and time consuming to review your own posts to be sure it cannot be taken incorrectly before submitting is a good idea. The problem is we all don't have that much time to do so--including myself.

I wish everyone would just try to see things in a positive light before assuming its a dig.

Ah well, such is life.

Thank You, All. for the suggestion and advice. and sorry in took me a little bit to reply. every time i started to read the posts i started to cry. not beacuse of my hen that just pisses me off, but about the grammer police. i have leaning disabiltys. and try really hard not to screw things up every day. i was ranting and i didnt know i had my caps lock on. I know that no excuse right.

And im sorry i didnt leave much detail. so here it is. I think.lol.

I have no fince. cant aford one at the moment. my dog is an inside dog for those who complianed about him being on a cable. he is only out on it long enough to go potty and to play a little. my chickens have a run at the moment made out of chicken wire ( i know not the wises thing to you but thats what i have at the moment) im trying to save money for a fince. and a decent place for them. I have some materal but it is defficult to build by myself.

So I have talked to the neighbors again. about there dogs running lose. (oh yeah they have a fince in there back yard)( dont know how they are getting out. because the land owners dogs never did). Still to no effect they are still lose every night and part of they day. My parent and i have come to the concluseion that we think they let them out. but we have no proof. i keep calling animal control but they wont come out at night. i would love to detain them but i am a small person ( uggg 89lbs) and they over power me. ther dogs have no maners. and i dont have the time to stand out there with a leash around there neck till animal control get off their behinds and do something nor can i leave my little one inside the house wile i do that. and i dont want my boys outside when there in the yard. I have tookin my paint ball gun and shot the heck out of them with it but they still come around. ( mental note need more CO2). lol. Ok i can think of anything else at the moment. Im prety tired. Its 3:36 and i have to get up early in the morning to take my kids to Headstart and go to work.

I would SSS the dogs. If I knew they would not unload in my yard I would put out food with some laxatives,so they crap up the owners house.

The first post was a bit hard to read being one big paragraph. Typos are no biggie.Hugs.

I would not talk to the neighbors.One time probably,but after that the dogs are free game for whatever I could come up for them.Frozen paint balls with the regular ones.One to mark and one to inflict pain.Marking them though will just escalate the neighbor issue.People get wacky pretty easy.SSS is good.

On the show *When animals Attack* they talked about this couple that was killed by dogs close to their home.Pack dynamics put people at risk not just livestock.

I have plastic fencing for my run with bird netting on top.You do what you can afford. I do have 6 foot chainlink around the yard.I gave up a driveway and house siding for that.

I am sorry for your loss and for the lack of compassion that some people have shown on this post. This is why there will always be war. Even in a chicken forum, with a person upset and venting, you get negativity. Big deal if the writing was wrong, the point was still there.

Anyway, you need to do whatever it takes to keep your pets, your self and your children safe. Tie the dog to your cable and call the police!

Next time you are out and the animals come around you biting and jumping on you, call 911, not animal control, and tell them that the dogs are attacking you. They ARE! If they do not get the police or animal control out RAPIDLY, raise heck through the media.

I am so glad people, besides me, since I just now saw this post, said something about the criticism of the grammar. Not once in the original post did I think wow this is hard to read. I know all people aren't of the same abilities. That being said, I think I would talk to the other guy in Oklahoma that offered to help if you don't want to dispose of the dogs yourself. I give my neighbors one warning when their dogs are threatening my livestock. If they do jot heed that warning I don't waste time thinking about it I shoot. That is legal here so not trying to cause trouble or a difference of opinion. We deal with it this way after instructed by the sheriff's department instructed us to do so if it continued.
