Ok, I need to vent.

How about recognizing that this is a forum to express and ask whatever you want to. Others on here are then free to respond and give advice if they feel the desire to chime in. If the discussion is about a chick with a runny nose or runny poo or whatever and the over-riding opinion is to take it to a vet....so be it. No harm in asking for advice and help in ANY matter. Geez what is the big deal? Folks ask for help regarding their personal problems too....would you advice them to just go to a psychiatrist rather than "vent" on BYC?

I think the perfect case is the recent post of Whinny and Bungaree chickens. Here was a bird nearly dead and with the help of BYC and the owner, she's alive

that was awesome!!

Remember that we are not veterinarians. We help based on our own research and experiences.
We cannot monitor the board 24/7, and therefore do not guarantee we can always help, much as we would wish to.
We should never be a replacement if real medical attention is required.
If your situation seems to require a trip to the vet, please do so. It is always a good idea to know of an avian vet in your area in case your situation is bad enough that we cannot help. We encourage you to visit the Reference Forum and read up there before you need the information.
