Thank you, I do love my birds. The light sussex are very pretty however I see the beauty in all of them even the mutts. The colors, the feather styles, the beaks, hackles, combs.... they all just amaze me with how each is just a little bit different.
Then the personalities. I love the Roos for the color, their braveness (even when they make me mad by charging me) and the hens for their loving nudges and stink eye glances.
They are just wonderful.
Honestly I am not creative or artsy--but I can appreciate these breeds and work to make each one the best they can be. And I soooo appreciate the opportunity to purchase those that have already "arrived"
Those who I have bought eggs from whose chickens are exceptional, thank you very much! I appreciate all your hard work.
Kathy, yes--on to the projects. Now here is a breed that we can be part of from the beginning. What an incredible opportunity! Thanks Jubaby for sharing!! The journey is most of the fun. The learning will keep me happy (I love to learn) The results will be rewarding!
I hatched my first olive egger chicks this week. they are black copper marans roo and easter egger hens. Chicks mostly have beards, muffs and feathered shanks and are colored like black copper marans chicks.
Is that what you call a barred silky??? I generally don't care for silkies but that one gets me! I guess I'm a sucker for anything that is halfway barred.
Mountainvieworchards--Wow, I just hatched some out too! And I have 6 more in the incubator. Mine are odd. They are shaggy haired and brown and black all mixed together. Very different looking! I wonder what the eggs will look like...

Thank you! Actually they are called Cuckoo Silkies, but you are right, they are barred.
