Because its fun to threaten to eat the cockatoo, or to pet a chicken and watch him get mad because he's not the one getting the attention. Wrapping a bird in a sheet of bread and pretending to eat it builds character for them !! The drama is half the fun, the bird LOVES it, it's all attention for him. Im just sharing some of the games I play with him, sorry if the drama caused you any melted wings or a speed dial to the therapist.
it is a big deal when they get run over or caught by the neighbors pit bull because they got under the fence.

For what its worth, Paco watches me cook all the time, he knows how the kitchen tools work, at times the trouble is keeping him on his cage and NOT helping or wanting a taste of what's on the stove. You want instant attention, start cleaning fish, or cleaning and prepping veggies, that bird will be at your feet, wanting to climb up your leg, up your arm and 'help out' in about a minute or two tops.
