Ok NOW we have an issue

I have a few that prefer to dig out their own dust baths and/or cooler dips in the sand, right up against the run wall. On really hot days, they dig deeper and deeper and have dug holes large enough to escape. I have some roosters that free range whenever the girls are penned up and oftentimes I find them digging on the other side of the fence as the girls. This makes a deep hole happen quickly. That's my fault as I need to predator proof and this won't happen.

2 of them, scratched around and dug enough they dug under the fence and went into my neighbors yard.
THEY DUG UNDER THE FENCE! WTH!!!!

Anyone else ever deal with kind of crap? NEVER in my wildest dreams would I have EVER guessed, you got chickens? ok, better make sure the don't dig out....
Do I just magnitate demonic birds to my domicile or what? I got the rottentoo inside who we won't even get started on, and then THEM outside now.

i understand the scratching and digging but you HAD to go under the fence??

"Magnitate"? 🤔

No the neighbor does not have dogs fortunately, and even more fortunately, he watched them come under the fence and found it entertaining. Chicken wire would be an issue as I have a LOT of fence line, probably 800 feet or so, and it's vinyl fence so no drilling into really or connecting /twisting around. I do like the electric fence idea, could easily drop a few stakes in the ground in their dig areas and string a popper across the region.. This actually sounds good for around the plants and stuff too where I don't want them. Run kind of a chicken 3 rd rail system around the yard heh. when it comes dinner time, just up the voltage :D

Ill have to look tomorrow and see what I can feasibly do. The coop is safe, it's the rest of the yard they free range in that they caused the issue.

The problem with electric fence is that you will zap you, too...no matter how long I have had it, I still find new methods to refresh my memory of what it feels like.

Yes, im a magnet for retarded birds.
I got one in the house who laughs and runs around in circles on top of his cage when I tell him im going to beat his ass, Ill actually grab his tail and wing tips and lift him almost up and off the ground and paddle him with my hand while growling at him. When i let him down he dances in circles laughs and warbles and i have to chase him around the cage, we run in circles to catch him and do it all over again.
he in turn yells at the chickens when he sees them out and about being bad.

then i got the chickens themselves outside digging into everything, hopping UP on everything they are not supposed to be on.

so YES, feathered tards magnitate to me for some reason

:p

🤔 I can't imagine why ....

I let them get away with too much. Maybe i need to break out the meat grinder and show a few of them how it works? I already threaten to make him into a Paco Taco, so maybe wrap him in a tortilla as a scare tactic? :🤷:

So far the chickens only seem to be digging in a very few places so maybe move some stuff over theer for the time being. It's under a tree sort of so very wet and muddy there most the time, which might be why the dig, worms.

So dramatic! One or two of my birds get out pretty much daily...just scoop em up and put em back in. What is the big deal? They are just chickening. It is not at all shocking they dug some holes at the fence line. It is what they do.
