OK, say I want to get some more chickens....

Thanks, but I was looking for something that I don't already have, even though I do love my buff orps. Not near as flighty as my wyandottes.

It's a shame you don't live closer, I have a white silkie roo you could try out. But of course you'd need some hens, he's quite the Cassanova.
My silkie roos crow in the morning and when they can see you but you're not paying attention to them. They are really sweet though, i don't think you'd be disappointed choosing that breed.

There's a silkie breeder not to far from me. Cochins, too.

I was browsing the net trying to find a good breed page and some of the hens I'm kicking arouns are: Barred Plymouth Rock, Gold Laced Wyandotte, Dominique, Americauna, Cochin and Polish Crested (maybe). I believe someone has a Polish who's house I drive by once in a while. When I see it it's always acting goofy in their yard.... so it must do OK in the cold, also.
Of course, I have no idea how all these different breed hens will coexist together..... but when the time comes to order I'll have to see what's available anyway. I'd like the silkie roo and maybe two or three breeds of hens. Maybe about another 5-8 birds total. That should give me enough extra eggs to put up a sign, some nice variety and something else to watch from the porch

Thanks! I'll add Red Star to my list. not sure what BR is.... Unless it's Barred Plymouth Rock like above.

I just pulled two more warm eggs out of my coop inbetween posts! I knew one girl was laying, the one that likes me petting her, and I opened up the door to find one in each box

Another five for five day! And it's a blizzard out there

I wonder if they are going to lay this well when the long days come.... Of course, it took them forever to get started (31 weeks old). At least I shouldn't have to check the nestboxes anymore today.

Nice picture. Looks like the middle girl has something pretty interesting to say

I'd like to hear more on this, Julie. I don't mind a crow now and then, or if something's going on, but I certainly don't need too hear it all the time
