My husband has Irish roots, but mine are Scottish. When we were at the Tower of London, I found my family name carved into the wall of the Salt Tower. My husband says I come from a long line of troublemakers!
I am going to Burns Supper later this month then the Tartan ball in March. At the Supper they will be serving Traditional Haggis....I am so not looking forward to that one.
He is of a Campbell clan thru Thompson family....so it is a distant relative.
For his kilts, handmade in Scotland, he bought it for six hundred dollars about 15 or more years ago and still with him today. It is very well made and heavy wool, not the lighter wroven wool. It was one of the kilt shops in Edinburgh, Scotland...can not remember the name right off bat.
He does not have a Bonnie Prince Charlie jacket yet but one said I can make one out of a black tuxedo jacket if I can sew.
So your price is not unusal and its reasonable for the outfit imported from Scotland to cost that much. You pay for what you get and it will be worth the money.
My dad traced our ancestry back and found out that our first ancestor that came to America (with the Rogers name) came from Edinburgh. Apparently a well educated man named Giles Rogers. I'd love to go to Scotland.
