My mother use to tell me about the March 1960 icestorm in Ga....she would say how creepy it was that power was out and trees would pop and crack and break......does anybody remember this? share please.....yes I am a history addict

I don't remember the 1960 one but I lived through an ice storm in Dahlonega, GA. in 2000. The ice was so heavy on the power lines that it bent the steel power poles. Not the regular one pole power pole but the big ones that have a base with 4 legs. We were without power for a week and a half. The only heat we had was the gas oven. Yeah I know not safe but it was 18 degrees outside.
