We got a fruit cake from a neighbor, and none of us care for it. Is it ok to give to the chickens, or is there too much sugar and sweet stuff in it for them? I'm not an expert of fruit cake, but it looks like it is loaded with colorful "stuff" and she said it was a "light" version. (I think she means the type of dough, because it is light in color, not lowfat.)

Thanks!

I love fruitcake!

I don't think it would be bad for the chickens, but be sure they don't eat toooo much and don't eat their regular food.

I've given my girls veggies with butter on it and cheese and things like that - all in moderation!

I tend not to feed anything that doesn't have some nutrition.

I don't think it will hurt but my girls need all the protein and good stuff they can get with snow all over the ground.

Its made up of dried fruit and bits right? a fruitcake will have some nutrition, not ideal but it won't be a total waste of crop space.
