We need some new chicken coops but cannot afford to buy any and we went to multiple stores and had a list of what we needed to buy to build a chicken coop and could not afford it either. We've asked friends if the could help us buy a chicken coop and we also asked if they had a chicken coop that they did not use anymore that we could have. And the answer we got was no they could not help us. I'm out of ideas.

Maybe it's time to downsize?

We don't buy our chickens we get them for free. We get them when they are chicks.

Maybe keep an eye out on Craigslist and FB Marketplace? We located a large very well built free chicken coop a few years ago on CL that a lady was simply anxious to get off her property. You could even post an ad yourself describing your circumstances and what you're looking for. Good luck to you.

I would either downsize or start watching craigslist, freecycle, and answering ads giving away pallets or building materials.
