Honestly I have chronic pain that I've lived with most of my life and I refuse to use pain meds unless absolutely necessary - so....keeps me up. All those meds do is make me sleep and really don't deal/take care of the real problem causing the pain. I don't want to sleep my life away. Found chickens to be very theraputic - but addicting!

Beautiful Baby!! And how is the little Momma doing? This has to have taken a toll on your sister as well. My prayers are for the health of the new little darling and for the family as well.

Nana, do you ever sleep?..... LOL

Momma is doing great and was released from the hospital yesterday on schedule.

Yes, I do sleep, but woke up last night and couldn't go back to sleep, so I checked up on my favorite people. Didn't think anyone would notice that I was online at 3 am.

ooops! wrong Nanna!!!!

It's OK. we will talk to you too. I can relate to the pain issues. This cool wet weather started affecting me yesterday before it hit. My hands, back, neck, knees, shoulders all knew something was coming. Got to love mobic, and ibuprofen. They help take the edge off the pain so that I'm more mobile but nothing functions as well.

Reading abbot those who have city ordinances make me even more thankful we no longer live in Lawton city limits. In Lawton you can have 12 poultry-- what ever you like roosters - guineas- turkeys. I am sure that will change soon. BYC are becoming more popular in Lawton. 4 or 5 yrs ago I didn't know anyone with chickens in town. Now I know bunches, mostly home school families. This wk Lawton even made it against city ordnance to have a carport on a house built after 1990 since carports are not attractive. and all carports must be shingled to match you house now. If you have never been to a city council meeting you should. Sometimes it is as funny as Saturday night live. We have been before the council several times for our rent houses. The result has always been favorable, but we made sure we spoke to several council members & let them know why we were coming before the council meeting. I think it helps to go in having a few on your side.

Elwood I just shook my head as I read about your pig adventure.

Been raining slowly here almost all day. The dogs have been playing hard enjoying the mud & cool weather. Had to run to atwoods this am-- DD said we were out of game feed. Atwoods in chickasha has chicks, ducks & guineas, didnt bring any home. When I got home I saw a bag of game feed in the chicken shed.

Think I need to call now & get our propane tank filled, not sure how much is in there. Once it gets cold I want to know it is full so I will be cozy & warm. Every year we use to have rental tenants not get there gas turned on until it got real cold. Sometimes it would take a week or so for the gas company to come out & turn it on. Over the past couple of years we switched the electric stoves out for gas so they had to get the gas on sooner. Also added to lease they are required to mintain gas service year round. Such mean landlords we are.

For everyone thats having trouble with city ordanice and such I may have a suggestion for ya. Have ya ever thought about raising quail??? Coturnix & button quail are perfect for small back yards. 1st off many city rules that state you can not have chickens ducks Turkeys ect ect completely neglect to mention quail. 2nd they can be raised in a small place like a shed or garage with little upkeep. 3rd they hardly make any noise and what noise they do make can easily be mistaken for wild bird noises. 4th & final there just plane fun to raise.

I alternated between laughing and my mouth hanging open when I realized he'd shot it lmao! I'm reading along about the loose pig and it said, "Rather than the dogs getting it.....I put it in the fridge." I'm so naive....I'm thinking, "Well, if he could catch it to put it in the fridge, why didn't he just put it in the pen...? And why's he putting a pig in the fridge...?" lol! Then I realized it wasn't a LIVE pig going into the fridge haha!
