Black widow, usually thought of as bad, but she eats tons of bad garden bug nymphs.

We got an awesome bench for the back porch at the Shawnee Atwood on Saturday - and some sasparilla and pickled brussel sprouts!

There was some patio furniture 50% off that I would have gotten had it not already sold.

Kass ,I'll keep my pousinous plants, you keep your pousinous bugs!lol Great pics just ugly subject matter!lol. I hate biteing stinging bugs!lol. I understand why you like them for the garden, but for me they are like snakes, only good ones are dead ones(sorry Teach)!
while we are on the subject, any ideal how to fix a cricket trap? I walked into the loft I'm tearing down aftyer dark and there were hundreds of cridkets there! Thought they would be great treats for the chickens!

MommaRaven, thanks!
And Kass? I was doing fine at 1st, I just love dragonflys. I even love bats. But the spiders and wasp were just a little more than I could take. I have a healthy fear of them both. I spent my whole life being scared of wasps & being stung. Then a few yrs ago it finally happened and I got stung. I looked down and thought, "That's it?? A lifetime of fear and that's all it is??" lol Now the yellowjacket sting took me by surprise, THAT'S what I should've been fearing all my life.

Nice photos Kass, even of the icky bugs. What size lens do you use to get the close up shots without disturbing your subject, and how far away are you usually when you get those shots?

Here these may be more to everyones likeing, just posted them on the other site too.

These were all from my father's yard near Clayton, OK

Neat! I love hummingbirds, and they love my feeders, cannas and altheas. Those are neat little ladders on the last photos.

When I use the macro lens filter since I don't actually have a macro lens yet (what I prefer) I have to get very close, I just move very slowly and take pics as I go incase I scare it away. The other one I use is an 18-270, I can't get close w/ that one it is a long lens, but I crop tight in post processing, works okay for viewing on the computer, but wouldn't make a good print.
