***OKIES in the BYC III ***

prairiehen74369 - I try to wear one of my POOPS shirts when I go places like the swap so that other BYC folks can recognize me as one of the group. I can't remember now, even though it was just yesterday, if I had a POOPS T-shirt on. I must have... yes, because Victoria told me I looked like I'd just come from a sale. I was sorely underdressed next to her at her birthday party. She could have gone for a job interview in her snappy little outfit. Clothes horse at 12 is not a good thing, especially when the horse has a keen eye for fashion. Maybe she's also got a keen eye for the sale table. For her momma's sake, I hope so.

I got to meet Michael D at Mary's swap today :-) What a nice guy! My husband really liked him a lot also.
And I got a pair of the most beautiful German Modina pigeons and 2 Easter Egger hens who are just gorgeous-I'm so thrilled with all 4 of these birds. The EE's have nice beards and nice heads. I've looked and looked for Modinas and gave up a long time ago on finding any. These 2 are wonderful! Everybody's been bathed, dipped, dryed, wormed and dusted and are settled in their quarrantine quarters with food and water. I stopped at Lowe's after taking care of the birds and got some lumber to make a coop for the pigeons. I'm excited, I'm going to attach it right to the house outside the back door and make it 3' x 3' and 6' tall. Have I mentioned I love these birds???
Michael was running his legs off, too. I hope you had a great sale day, Michael

The guy who was helping you was awesome, incredibly nice and as busy as you both were you didn't make anyone feel left out. I know where to go for birds from now on.
Here's their pics- the pigeons are just barely still damp but you can still see how cool they are. And aren't the EE's pretty??? I love the gray & rust color on the 1.

Modenas can't fly so I think it'll be big enough. I just measured it and it's 3 1/2' x 4'. They can hop and that's why I wanted to give them several levels.
You know....I could use the opposite side of the door and make it about 6'x4' though. Or.....bring it out farther where I was planning on putting it and make it 6' x 4' there.
Watson, I think we have a plan! Thank you

I have had events recently that kept me from going to the flea market. I'd like to go every Saturday in the summer, but birthdays, heat waves, and house painting headaches have to come first some times. If I advertise on Craig's List, I can usually have about half of my birds sold before I ever get to the flea market. I think I will go until the weather gets too cold. I look forward to taking some fall and winter items I've made: hats, sweaters, Christmas tree ornaments, and some animal dolls with ceramic heads. My craft table at home looks like it's been hit by a tornado, but my "for sale" boxes are filling up.

Evening everyone

What a weekend filled with crazy..

we "drove" the Coop De ville to Michael's house (hope its placed where ya wanted it) and fyi: Your granddad was such a nice gentleman no wonder you are so polite and kind I can see where it came from.

Seriously pigeons that can't fly? How do they avoid preditors? Do they live in the wild? (well not your specific birds, but in general?)

Quite a few of the fancy breed pigeons can't fly. Modenas, if I remember correctly, are too heavy, too broad, and too stumpy to fly. Quite a few fancy breeds are bred from the rock pigeon and aren't found in the wild and they weren't bred with predation in mind.
