***OKIES in the BYC III ***

Okies, I hope you can come to my rescue with ideas because I have none.

James' sister offloaded these "dog houses" on him a few years back. They've been sitting in his backyard doing nothing except collecting dirt (and cobwebs). He wants them put to use, or gone. I'm certain that there is something chicken-y that can be done with them, but I am drawing an absolute blank.

Does anyone have any ideas?

nest boxes maybe??? how big are they?

They're about my height when stood on end... a little over 5 foot, not counting the overhang.

If you could construct a simple stand to hold them at about a 45 degree angle...maybe a little less....you could use them as compost drums....great for garden or flower beds!

Yes.
I raise my Seramas on sand, sort of. The top half of their hutch has a wooden room, that is where I have a plastic dog tray with sand on it. Then the other half the the top story is wire, that is were their food and water is. Then there is a ramp that goes down to a small run. We move it around every once in awhile, after they eat up all the grass. The sand really has no smell, and works great. When they lay their eggs in it I can just gentle brush off the sand and the egg is nice, clean, and shiney. However, when I used shavings, or hay the eggs were always soiled with poo and hay.
