Sorry to hear about your little pullet. It's been several hours...has the condition changed any? Worsened or improved? Can she stand on her legs or are they wobbley? Will be interested in seeing if the vitamins help.

She is eating & will stand up once she can get her head turned around. It is really hard for her to turn her head around though. I did read up on the treatments mentioned, everything does say it is normally crested birds, by I am going to try & do the vitamin treatment. Will monitor her close, but I am skeptical on her recovering. She had much more control of her head this afternoon about 1 or 2. Sad to watch her struggle.

Sounds like it could be Botulism brought on by the digging in the pen and the rain. Chances are moldy things were brought to the surface. Botulism is also known as limberneck. Range disease or range paralisis is Mareks disease and usually the bird looses control of the legs first. Most of the time one will be pointed forward and one to the rear.

Anyway if you have some Mollasses cut it 50% with water and get as much as that down the bird as you can. What that will do is to flush the intestinal tract and get the toxins out. Just to cover all bases I would go ahead and feed the recipe that you were given in case it is a vit. defeciency. You can also use three drops of Poly-Vi-Sol infant vits, without added iron, Twice daily to get things going as quickly as you can.

i lost one hen to a similar thing folks around her called 'range fever' not sure what it was but she became paralized- what i would do in your girls situation is look for some sort of neurological issue- bumped head etc, or getting into some sort of mold or mildew? any idea on color of poo?

Mareks Disease used to be called Range Paralysis. It's got SO many potential symtoms and is so widespread that it's everywhere and it could easily be that. There's also a pigeon disease that chickens can get that causes their neck to twist completely around like that, starts with a 'P'. I can go look it up if you want.
Faery, that's terrible news! My brother works in that same field, he's a director at a treatment center in OKC, can't even remember the name of the place.

Try boiling it until tender and let it cool...a little slimy, but they eat it and seem to like it that way.

Whole pods or cut up? And thanks I had not tried that yet.

The Silkie chicks just dive right in. The Cochins stand at my feet, look at the food then look at me waiting for me to hand feed them lol! Yep. I never shoulda' started that when they were tiny. But it's ok, I'll hand feed them anytime they want, I sure love those babies.
