***OKIES in the BYC III ***

HOWDY EVERYONE!

The other day I got a lil Oklahoma sick... I was over at the "FarmHouse" and the sellers said the Pekin duck and few chickens they have left on the property would stay with the house... Jason told me the first thing he wants to do is get the Pekin a friend... I was thinking how easy it would have been for us had we still be there in OKIE LAND to go to the nearest auction and get a auction fix but alas I was reminded that we are merely newbies in a strangeland and have no idea at this time what the nearest poultry auctions are... (hey Jason and I may have to pull a Doc and Peaches and get one going if there isnt one, I mean whats the point of having a poultry addiction if you dont push it on others.. ha ha ha)

Anyhow here are a few photos of our recent outings, if all pans well with the purchase of the Farmhouse I hope someday yall can make a trek out here and visit.. that would be so Crazy Awesome

Why Interesting? they are a nice bird, I will admit although they are not my cup of tea, I am surprised more folks do not raise and show them.

Because there will be different varieties & I'm bringing 17 of them.

. Plus, you hardly ever see them shown.

What colors are you showing?

lol... my dh thinks the same thing about me. When I grab the camera as I walk out the door he makes sure to tell me he's NOT going to stop for me to take pictures... I take it anyway, I know he will.

Great pics btw. You've definately moved to a beautiful area!

So much for the lc recipes. lol I was thinking maybe chili for supper, but now I'll just want some sweet cornbread to go with it! Maybe I'd better take it in a whole new direction. Nuking the zuchini sounds super simple, will definately give that a try! Have you ever raised any spaghetti squash? I love the for a noodle substitute, but had zero luck raising them. By the looks of all your produce, I bet you could do it.

Sometimes a broom helps get the point across without injuring them.

Anyone tried turduckin? Not sure that's how you spell it. I've heard it's yummy and would like to find one to fix at Christmas.

Carl & Guy

I like to call them as wheaten based colors, but the standards denote black breasted red, gold duckwing, silver duckwing, & so forth. In my eye they are wheaten based.

I'll be showing wheaten, black, barred, dun, barred dun, black breasted red, gold duckwing, and khaki. Not all of those are accepted colors.

That sounds like a great line-up.. I knew they often where wheaton based and yet reffered to as Duckwing since it was teh males color that it was based on.. All the hens definetly appear wheaton to me.
The Dun's are undoubtedly stunning. In most other breeds everyone want to call them chocolate which I find interesting.. since there is an actual true breeding chocolate as well.

Had a long day today. Moving cows home and then moving all the portable cattle panels from the lease to the land in Prague so we can move that herd. Started at 9:30 and ended at 6:30. Dinner was Jamaican....whatever ja makin we're havin...ended up with tunafish and leftovers along with V8 juice. Leftovers included fried green tomato hash (diced green tomatoes, bell pepper, onion, jalepeno and cornmeal fried like you fry okra)

Kass...so glad you are safe!

Wayne, enjoy your visit with your daughter and the "farm"

Sounds like Cuban is going to make the Pryor show a treat to see.

Gonna take a shower now..I think I smell stronger than the cows....
