i really need to get some oxine, how diluted do you make it? i was wondering on whether to clean one of the eggs as she pooped on it-

MJ, one of your cochins has decided to be a mama... not a good plan - bless her little heart- so will try to take the eggs and see if she has second thoughts- one broody at a time!

Mitzi, glad the cochins are doing good- they must be like silkies- living to be mamas!

Its all based on usage, for eggs 1/8 th tsp per gallon. For sterilizing pens, equipment, etc. 1 tsp per gallon. For drinking water 1/4 tsp per gallon. For sterilizing incubators and hatchers I use 2 tsp per gallon. To kill Parvo virus (dogs) it takes 1 oz. per gallon.

thanks, will save that info- sure sounds like something to have on hand, i have indoor birds - starlings, a sparrow etc... always worry about fumes from cleaning solutions

He is feeling alot better and back out taking care of his birds himself. He's got alot of nice Black Coppers coming along and starting to lay. I can't wait for spring.

Just for the record the vet said use bleach and pinesol. I did find tons of info about activated Oxine and how well it works, but nothing about plain oxine without activating it. Even the side of the jug doesn't say anything about using it non-activated. So I'm honestly not sure how effective the non-activated stuff is.

Evening all! Sounds like winter may be on its way here. You all get it first then it comes over to us. I'm ready for spring already!
Quiet evening here. Just finished hemming another quilt. This one went pretty quickly. To many cold days with nothing else to do I guess!lol. Nana thats a cute chick, looks like you will be chick sitting all winter!lol

I would not use Lysol, pick up some Oxine... Its great. and has many uses related to sterilizing things. also good in humidifiers when kids are not feeling well or bronchitis, general resperiratory infections. Sterilize incubators, buildings, pens, etc. etc.

Thanks! Where do I buy some?
