***OKIES in the BYC III ***

i really need to get some oxine, how diluted do you make it? i was wondering on whether to clean one of the eggs as she pooped on it-

MJ, one of your cochins has decided to be a mama... not a good plan - bless her little heart- so will try to take the eggs and see if she has second thoughts- one broody at a time!

Mitzi, glad the cochins are doing good- they must be like silkies- living to be mamas!

Normally I use 1/2 oz of Oxine per gallon of water to spray down the pens, etc. A 1/2 oz is equal to 1 Tbs. (1tsp to 5 1/3 cups water)
I used 1/2 tsp per 4 cups of warm water.

Nice birds and nice cages.
In another life I would like be one of your birds.

Thank you but they're not as cool as yours! I keep meaning to ask you how your hen is? The Silver Lace Cochin boy isn't gurgling at all anymore thank god The only real sign the hen had was puffy eyes but she got the injections right along with him the past 5 days. Since it's going to rain and be cold I'm keeping them in the next few days. And from now on I'm putting them in the coop personally if it even MIGHT rain. I really think that's why he got sick. All it takes for me to bond with an animal is to have to nurse it back to health

(Oh wait-that's Robin!) The little girl is sweet as a lamb like always but the roo pecks me now every time I reach to pick him up for his injection. Hmph! Typical man-doesn't like a needle jabbed into his chest lol They really take it very well though and don't budge, I don't know why birds takes injections so well.

Good lord, woman, don't buy any! It's $34 a gal and I just bought a gallon awhile back and I'll never use that much in 3 yrs. I'm pretty sold on bleach and pine-sol myself. PM me your address and I'll send you a quart of it priority mail. In one of those priority boxes it costs the same no matter how much it weighs, I don't think more than a quart container will fit. If it does, I'll send more. Consider it your Christmas present

I've got over a dozen dogs here. If I never see another dog for the rest of my life I'll still have seen more than everyone in the state of New Mexico. I do hope you find her a home.

Our LF hen is doingh great. We think she is in love with my SQ black bantam, Cowboy. I would really like to get some more LF Cochins some day. They sure are impressive. Just wait till you see they at Shawnee!

I'm glad to hear she's better. I can't wait for the Shawnee show! I have a young Faverolles pair I'm picking up there. I'm so excited

I'm becoming pretty partial to these little Cochin bantams, they're so soft and their chunky little bodies are adorable. I've promised myself I won't get anything else until the turkey pens done and I have more room but I see a couple Mille Fleur Cochin bantams in my future. And the white ones-so pretty.
(Edited cuz I can't spell evidently.)

I would not use Lysol, pick up some Oxine... Its great. and has many uses related to sterilizing things. also good in humidifiers when kids are not feeling well or bronchitis, general resperiratory infections. Sterilize incubators, buildings, pens, etc. etc.
