That's a perfect idea! I'm going to go look up pickling
I've heard you can just soak them in pickle juice. I LOVE boiled eggs and I love pickles, great suggestion.

thanks somtimes a "anny ol auction bird" that comes from a breeder that razes 100erds of pure shamos can be just as good genetic as a high $ bird
I know exactly what you're saying. It's the same old arguement about show dogs and working dogs. It's not easy to find a dog/bird with the right balance. I really don't want a bird who can't even be put in with hens but I do want one with the look of the rooster you just got. I guess that put me in the 5% group of people. I don't breed, don't show, would never fight anything. But I want a good quality animal, whether it's a bird, dog, donkey or horse, for their stable personalities and consistant behavior. Every once in a blue moon you'll find a dog, bird or whatever at an auction or shelter who's got all the right qualities. I'm betting that applies to the Shamo you got. I've got a few more months to decide on more birds so I have plenty of time.

I'm looking and looking and can't find the shut-off button on mine either-haha! He's so darn proud when he crows though, I wouldn't have the heart to shut it off. He hears the big roosters outside crowing and he joins right in, he thinks he's big, too!
I'm picking up the LF Faverolles pair at Shawnee but if I happen across any Dark Brahmas or Mille Fleir bantam Cochins I don't know that I'd be able to resist. Does anyone know if Bantam Dark Brahmas are common enough that they might be fore sale at the show?
