Neat! I saw the d'Anvers at the show and the were beautiful, alot of grace to their motion like the Modern Games. - Never thought I would use "grace" and "elegance" to describe chickens!

Buffalogal, I see your flocks include buckeyes...where did you get your start from? how long have you had them? We got our first ones a couple years ago from Arkansas...and have since added a Roo from here, a hen from there. We really like ours

Where do you find more information about them?

Most shows can be found on the ABA and APA websites, the APA/ABA Junior program website. there are many others through 4-h, FFA, and Local poultry clubs that may not be listed there but may be found in the Poultry Press, or Exhibition Poultry magazine. Unfortunately there really is not a single source it is a matter of where the host club decides to advertize.

This one made it all the way to the rafters, Jim's looking at me like, "See? Told ya they could fly." lol!
And here you go, June. Channing says this is his "show picture". He just wants to prove to everyone that he'd have won if he had stooped to the level of show birds and entered himself lol
And I found this purple pumice perch for him to keep his toe nails and beak trimmed, he really does use it for his beak and roosts on it all the time. My husband seems to think there's something obscene about it though

I told him he better just keep his trap shut about that & Channing loves his purple perch.

Ours are from Meyer hatchery, they call them ameraucana's, but they are EE's. If you have FB if you click on the link in my signature page I have two albums of my chicken pics one is called "The Girls" then I filled that one up and started another, I forget what the name is but I'm sure it's chicken related.

Oh and all our girls except one lays blue or green eggs of all different shades, the one that doesn't lays a pink egg.

Just trying to get caught up readfing but thought I would put in my two cents here, I have seen a recepticle at Atwood's (I'm sure Lowe's or WalMart aslo has them) that you can plug into the wall socket and then plug two cords into and it will not come on untill it gets below 32 degrees, this would aleveate the need to plug in and unplug your extention cords for cold weather and if you are not home when it gets below it will come on automaticly!!! BFrancis...are you reading the d'Anvers thread under "breeds, genetics and showing"? There was a list of those that are accepted in the standard for showing and a complete review of the standards for the Belgium Bearded d'Anvers Bantam.

While I straightened up the hot tub room and mixed Layer pellets and some cracked corn for the Bantams:
LilGuy is in his cage crowing big time and Fred and Grace (Spangled OEGB) are settled down looking out the window.
NNN and the three babies finished scratching in the tub and have settled down now...all three babies on her back.
The boys took the three heifers to the vet and I'm waiting on the refridgerator repairman. A part is coming that he will install for me.
Sure looks cold outside!

Since the OEGB are sooooooo small, can they eat sunflower seeds? I understand they need 18% protein. So thinking of a proper feed besides just layer pellets and cracked corn, suggestions would be appreciated for this Bantam novice.

Here is what I have on hand to mix:
S & S 15% egg layer pellets
S & S medicated starter grower
Red Rooster Game feed (This has whole corn kernals in it)
Cracked corn
unhulled wheat
clean oats
Black oil sunflower seed
Manna Pro Poultry conditioner
Manna Pro Gamebird/Showbird crumbles
Calf Manna
Red Cell oil
dried mealworms

Hi, I used to show 19 different ccolors of Old English bantams all ove Oklahoma, at that time I was a member of the Oklahoma Poultry Breeders Assosiation, you might check that out on line or ask around at the shows, there used to be a couple of clubs in Okla. and then there are the different breed clubs that have sanctioned shows here in Okla. Just sayin!!! Lynn
