Welcome to the Okie Thread.. Glad to have you here.. Good to hear you have some nice ones hatching.. are you going to make the Pryor show? It would be a good place to meet several of the Okies since your so close. I know Sooner and lil-sooner plan to be there as well as several others.

I didn't notice anyone else welcome Checoukan... com'on guys give her that great Okie welcome aboard speech.. She is so close to oklahoma I think she qualifies as an Okie anyway.

I think of "rosecombs" as being a variety of some kind of poultry - are you raising rosecomb brown leghorns or some other kind of poultry with a rosecomb?

Nashville voted last night to allow backyard chickens,no more than 6 and no roos and a $25 permit,but hey I was glad for the folks there that have them. I have talked to several that were "hideing" their birds! Now they won't have too.
Jarvis those are pretty rosecombs,are they yours? Your right they are seldom seen anymore. I remember when they used to be the most common fancy bantam found.

Hello Everyone!

My gray saddleback Sebastopol is laying eggs already...darned weather...but I don't want goslings at the moment. I have checked fertility and the eggs are definitely fertile. I have a very good deal to offer someone that is really close to my area. I need about 5 or 6 LF Cochin hens, or LF Orp hens to use as broodies for hatching Call duck eggs. I will trade Sebbie eggs for the hens. This is a deal because grown Sebs bring up to $60 a piece, especially the colored ones, and I've gotten as much as $20 a piece for the eggs . My geese are directly from Holderreads: gray saddleback goose with white gander. I am not picky about the color of the hens, but they do need to be healthy, broody type, easy going hens.
Let me know what you have and we'll see what we can work out. Again, you need to be pretty close to the Inola, Claremore, Tulsa area.
